New Coaches?

So is Tim Hauck coaching safeties, or is he the defensive analyst?

Hauck as an analyst. Roger Cooper is the new safeties coach

Coop is a really good guy. Glad it made it out of Pocatello. I know there was talk about him coming on board when Vigen was filling out his staff, but, for whatever reason, it didn't happen.

Ooh, cat fans are gonna be none too pleased to hear that one. These seem like all around good hires. Can’t wait for them to announce it.
Oh yes, I was shocked when vigen didn't hire him as DC. He's going to be great.

Phhhuuuuuuk. There's a reason he's no longer at ISU, was demoted at UNLV, not once, but twice. Maybe he can coach the shovel pass. try, try again.

maybe between him and TR they can develop one playbook that has more than three plays.

Roger Cooper, recently assistant head coach/D Coordinator at Idaho State, told a friend of mine he’s now a Griz. He played linebacker for the Kittens in the early 2000’s. Big Sky MVP in ‘04. I don’t know the position he’ll be coaching but seems like a great hire.

Have you ever seen Idaho States record? Not sure about this coach?

Bergquist thinks RP is terrific.

I just don’t understand the holdup to announce it. UM is always terrible at this. Other schools announce their hires right away even MSU so the paperwork thing never made sense to me.

Taber just needs to stay on top of it better.

It's honestly the most annoying thing surrounding the program through the decades. From admin to (a lot of) fans, people love to say they have info, can't share it yet, but "Trust me, it's big news and you'll be pleased."

I've already said too much. Stay tuned.

If you aren't employing a Offensive and Defensive Analyst these days, you are really missing out. To have long term OC/DC types with tons of experience in those positions is a huge bonus. Some schools love to put newer coaches there, but the schools who have their heads screwed on right put guys there can look at film and personnel objectively but can carry the type of cache both with existing on field staff but also players. Because a lot of the time, OA's and DA's do have to bring unpopular viewpoints and the more credibility they have makes it a lot easier to get improved game planning and personnel decisions.

As I noted there are very few guys that I have listened to over the years that have as much institutional football knowledge as Rob Phenecie. You may not like his on the field product, but this position is a wheelhouse position for Phenecie. Plus he has a positive relationship with just about everyone in the offensive coaches room and that will help get some stuff into games that sometimes might just be ignored.

To be honest I doubt we’ll ever get an announcement on analysts we’ve had an analyst the past couple of years who is now the RB coach at Rocky but unless your really familiar with the program or social media you would have never even known he was part of the team. Hell we can’t even get an accurate roster, I’ve scoured social media and other places and can’t find a clue as to who this new walkon QB is, I’m not sure why we hide things so much.

Things could be far worse....

coulda hired the chinos
iu

"Ron Ash was named the program’s offensive analyst on June 2. Ash, a 36-year veteran head coach, previously served as head coach at Montana State University from 2007-15.

With 246 career victories, Ash ranks among the top 30 winningest college football coaches all time. He comes to Fayetteville as the all-time wins leader at all three of his head coaching stops: Montana State (2007-15), Drake University (1989-2006) and Juniata College (1980-89)."
He only LOST 261 games

Only took tweeting at them to least announce one of the hires.

Phenicie: Ya gotta admit one thing, I YOU had to recruit to Pocatello(that gem of SE Idaho) and Holt Arena(that.....well, THAT!), how well to you think you"d do?
