Nebraska vs Illinois

Frost is showing his stubborn streak. He won't admit that of all the QBs on his roster, Martinez is NOT the best. It's not just eGriz, it's the whole sports world. Google it. I hope this lesson is not lost in Bobby.

Wow, feel bad for those receivers. You can kinda see the frustration on their faces. More of the same for the Huskers.
Interesting stats (both bad for Nebraska):
(1) Martinez was 16 of 32 passing for 232 yards (14.5 yards per reception). That combination suggests to me that the Illini did not think Martinez could beat them with his passing. They were willing to give up a medium gainer now and then to contain the big play. That meant they could give more attention to stopping the run (which they did).

(2) Martinez was the Husker running attack. He gained 111 yards (with 75 of it on one play). Nobody else gained more than 33.

With a scatter-arm QB and no credible running game, things do not look good for the Huskers.

Their O-Line sure looked aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwful.

I want Samori to ball out, but damn...Tough to shine in on offense where the QB can't even make routine throws.

Or is running for his life half the time.

Frost and his coaching staff reportedly decided to remove music from Monday’s practice, instead hoping the players would bring the “energy” themselves. We’re sure this is going to fix all their problems. We don’t have much to say here other than it’s officially time to worry. This is the kind of decision high-school coaches make.
Fortunately for the Huskers, they have two winnable games over the next two weekends.

NO MUSIC? You cruel heartless bastard! Maybe they just need a change of music, say to 'Lawrence Wells Top 50 Tunes.' A-Onea-ana-Twoa, at 125 decibles.

"Dead man walking" was one of the kinder(not!) descriptions I've read about Frost in the aftermath of this game. Few analysts think his team has the horses to be competitive against a Big Ten schedule. Some are hopeful that they can at least be mediocre if the team can just cut down on their mistakes at key moments.

Also, for all his "storied" history as a player at Nebraska, many analysts doubt that he has the recruiting chops to bring enough top players to Lincoln to turn things around for the long run.

How do they not onside kick after making it 30 - 22 with about two minutes left? They'd just taken 6+ minutes to score on a long drive then missed the PAT. Guess the theory is to kick long, hold them right away using TOs then get it back. A 9 yard run on first down.....then easy first down on next play for Illinois......then Nebraska started using TO's and got it back with 20 seconds and 90 yards to go. Seems like Martinez has been QB at Nebraska for 10 losing seasons in a row!

As an Iowa fan, just makes my heart warm to see Scott get a bit more frosty. Nuck Febraska go back to the Big 12.

Love to see Toure making some plays but I hope he has 0 td’s vs Iowa this Black Friday
