NDSU

NDSU=Money from Bakken. UM and MSU will never see those dollars so we're going to have to do what we can with what we got.

First off, there is not going to be an FBS or an FCS in 8 years. There will be 5 16 team superconferences or maybe 6 12 team superconferences and then the rest will all be a separate Division. What it will be called I don't know, but would bet it won't be anything in use today.

The existing FCS conferences will be rolled into the new Division with the present FBS schools that are not in one of the superconferences.

My guess is that the superconferences will be:

ACC
SEC
BIG 10, or 12 or 16 - Being the present Big 10 with a different number.
BIG 12 - Being named something else
PAC 12

If there is a 6th conference I would think the MWC is best positioned right now but this could change.

Some of the school's in conferences that are not mentioned above will be asked to join so that everyone has 16 teams. Syracuse comes to mind as being one of those.

Everyone else will be in the new Division.

I do not know this as fact but the writing is on the proverbial wall that this is what is going to happen.

First I will admit I only watched the first couple of minutes of video and I am not impressed, at least with that part. Can you imagine how loud Griz stadium would be with a dome. #2-I do not ever want a dome because you will never get this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=b2cmAVadiQ4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Or take a night photo of the Fargo dome and see if it looks as cool as the photos being sold above of the Griz-UNI game. We can improve our weight room facilities etc., but they will never be able to improve that dome.

Screw the Dome...I meant look at the locker room, coaches meeting room, weight room, training room

I don't think many of these posters have been in the underworks of WA-Griz & the Adams Center... so they might not have something to compare it to?

Sorry Infiltrator, I went back and read my reply to your post and I can see where it came off as an attack on your point of view. That was not my intention in any way. I am sure you are right on and the NDSU facilities outside the stadium are very impressive. I hope the Griz will eventually have better lockers etc. I am sure you have heard the real estate saying, location location location. Well I apply that line of thinking to many things. If it is not quite what I want, can I change it and that is exactly how I consider the NDSU stadium. They have reached their peak IMO because there is nothing you can do with that dome stadium. Hopefully some big time money will come in to improve the UM facilities, but in the mean time, we have something incredibly special in Griz Stadium. There is a legitimate reason why we are the envy of many an FCS program and maybe one of the reasons why McKinley and Favors would choose us over 2 time champs NDSU. It could be, they already see the magic of playing games in the best FCS stadium in the county.
Do I feel a Griz tear coming on? And I wrote that without any alcohol or other stimulants, but all jokes aside, I sincerely believe it. I was at this game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ...2cmAVadiQ4

Two things

1. If this mattered Alaska Anchorage, and Alaska Fairbanks would be in FBS by now. Royalties there have far exceeded the Bakken through the years.

2. Montana has its own little "Bakken". Not developed yet but it will be in the future.

After a while the perfection of everything became monotonous, they absolutely want for nothing. They might as well join the Big 10, it looked to me that rich of a program. Hopefully Montan'as own "little Bakken" formation may bring with it another T. Boone Pickens.

I agree with GrizMusicians musings of being in the underbelly of the FieldHouse/WaGriz. As a former athlete (2003-2005), they were "meh" - borderline bad when I was there, and are probably atrocious now.

I guess you could say the Bakken money flows into the academic side of the school but not so much on the athletic side of things. And really a good deal of that oil money is being put away in the bank for when the Bakken dries up.

Obviously the city built the dome, a donor and the alumni foundation paid for the coaches offices/locker room inside the dome and some of the other areas the video focused on(strength training and rehab especially) will actually be under going a massive renovation thanks to a major donation by Scheels and Sanford Health...

Impressive video by NDSU. There overall facilities look great. I said it before and will again. I find it sad that we are looking to NDSU as a pillar. This was a D-II school not all that long ago really. We find ourselves in a position being surpassed by NDSU. We see NDSU progressing and building, moving forward or upward. We see UM for the most part stagnet or really just looking to hang on. Personally this is disturbing to me. Watching NDSU I sort of felt like I was watching our Griz of the mid to late 90's. I refer to the new feel or energy. Has UM come complacent and for so long just expected to stay on top. Our fans expect to be top tier. But even if we say go to the semis this year will that be enough for UM and Griz fans? I look forward to any changes the NCAA may have for college football. Maybe this change will be a new spark once it might happen. Do I think NDSU will be in this level of football in a decade, no way. NDSU is building for the future! They way they seem to be going they would be asked to the likes of the MWC or Big 12 long before our Griz would.

The answer is yes. Cash cow and the school is in no hurry to make the necessary upgrades because it takes money to do so. Athletics will always be a stand alone. State support will go to the academic side and private donations will be the lifeblood of sports. IMO if the teams have to "rent" their facilities then those sports should get to keep the revenue they produce and can reinvest the proceeds the way they choose.

A couple of things about NDSU. NDSU benefitted with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers hired blowhard and atrocious head coach Tim Brewster. Brewster thought he was better than recruiting instate talent and didn't even look at many of the Minnesota kids that went to NDSU and made a difference.

The FargoDome is actually a liability when playing southern teams during the playoffs. Georgia Southern, playing with their third-string quarterback, nearly beat NDSU. The dome provides a nice, warm and fast playing surface for teams from the south. Meanwhile WaGriz provides an intimidating, cold, and snowy place with a slippery playing surface for teams from the south.

Sure we can improve the facilities but facilities don't make the tackles, the blocks, the catches, the runs, the reads, and the throws. Coming out of the tunnel into a stadium like WaGriz with 25,000+ screaming, raving fans is like none other. Why else do so many other FBS athletic directors rave about WaGriz? By the way, if you've ever been to Fargo you would soon realize why they have to make their facilities top notch. Not much else to excite recruits.

I don[t know why you post things that aren't true. GS had their 1st string all conference qb playing the whole game. Your jealousy is funny. Glad you like WaGriz, its a great place to play, but we like the dome when it's Dec and playoff time.

Who is going to get athletes to go to play in Alaska at any level, unless they are able to be paid from the oil money?

It's hard enough to convince players to play in Montana or North Dakota. Alaska?

It's like some of you just ignore the massive and intense investigations of UM over the last year by not only the NCAA, but also the federal government.

There are penalties coming, and the NCAA may want to make an example of an out of the way school. It's what they do since they messed up the USC case.

great video, as well as the video's of a rowdy fargodome at 120decibal levels on espn2.

NDSU gets money indirectly from the oil boom (I know quite a few donating that are getting money on the backend - land , rent, mineral rights)

if the state of ND legislature "ACTUALLY" supported NDSU and gave them some money, it'd be FBS tomorrow , hell they just spent $720 million on transportation bill yesterday!
