Being a CPA sometime's I turn into a stat's geek. Not sure I have ever seen something like this.
NDSU leads the nation in total defense at 159 yards per game, yes 159 yards. Second in the nation is Illinois State at 219 per game, an increase of 60 yards per game going from number 1 to number 2 in the nation.
NDSU's offense ranks 5th in the nation at 509 yards per game. So NDSU is averaging 350 yards more on offense then they are giving up on defense.
Granted the teams besides EWU that they have played kind of suck (Mississippi Valley State 1-4, Robert Morris 2-3, Missouri State 1-4, Indiana State 0-5). It will be interesting to see what happens as they get to the meat of their conference schedule. They have Youngstown State on the road next week.
