NDSU Hasn't Played Anyone

There is constant banter from a few posters critical of Montana's success given their schedule. If that's the case, then NDSU must be a weak team as well because they haven't played "anyone."

Other than their d-2 game with Ferris State, they have played only one team with a winning record, that being SDSU at 6-4. In fact, that is the only top 25 team (if one can really call SDSU a top 25 team) they have faced this year.

I guess the top team in the nation is almost as bad as Montana.

They did play and beat Kansas State from the FBS, who just beat Texas Tech this weekend.

Haha. Well played Ranco. FTR, I totally agree with you. Brint said it in another post. The Griz play the teams they're supposed to play. It's hard to believe, but after all the "Griz haven't played anyone" talk this season, I wonder if there are actually posters who think the Griz get to pick their Big Sky Conference schedule? Seriously, some of them truly sound like they don't understand how it works. And in regards to UM's OOC schedule, for everyone who bashed the Appy win, why didn't those people step up to the plate back in July and August and predict how bad Appy was going to be>? No back then, we were playing a huge rival, with 10 more scholarships than the Griz who wanted to pay the Griz back for the 09' playoff game. NO ONE knew Appy was the team they turned out to be, and quite honestly, I still consider that a QUALITY win because I would bet in no game all season has App played better than it did that night in Missoula.

Good point. And Kansas State has a winning record too, so that's 2 teams with winning records they've beaten...one being a Big 12 program who will be in a bowl game this year.

I consider every win a quality win, well maybe not OPHS, but none the less, every opponent is a threat no matter. The quality wins is another reason I do not care for the ranking system in the FBS. That system needs playoff games played in bowl style with the same format as FCS.

Kansas State isn't dog meat and NDSU still hasn't been beaten. Until they are they are the defending champions and I am not convinced they don't deserve to be where they are.

Before anyone is "dissed" I would suggest we win out. The teams that we have beaten haven't had great seasons either and we haven't exactly smoked them if I remember the last few games correctly.

Here is to getting healthy, winning out and having a chance to face them. If that happens we can say who is better. Until that time talk is cheap.

I don't think anyone said the Griz are better than NDSU, and I'm quite certain the OP was being sarcastic about NDSU. He is making fun of the "Griz haven't played anyone 10 games into the season" mantra

Let me clarify it for you havgrizfan. It isn't who you play it is who you beat. We played Eastern and got beat at home. We played NAU and got beat on the road. They played Kansas State and won on the road. We have lost 2 games and they have lost 0. To date we have beaten one team with a winning record. To date they have beaten two teams with a winning record and that team is a Big 12 team that will be in a bowl game as was pointed out.

No where in my first post did I say or even imply that anyone said who is better. I said I hope we can find out and that talk is cheap.

End of this conversation.

Havegrizfan is exactly right. Of course NDSU deserves to be the number one ranked team in the FCS. But let's face it, the Griz could win out and there would still be people who would say we suck because of our schedule.

Yo, Ranco, would the Griz be willing to trade games with the bottom feeders of the BSC (UND, Portand State, UC Davis, Weber State) for games with the bottom feeders of the MVC (Southern Illinois, Missouri State, IIlinois State, and USD) ? I didn't mention Indiana State who the Bison beat because the Griz didn't/don't play Idaho State...... Bison/Griz only common opponents will be USD and MSU.....oh, wait.......

Doubt that. If we win out we'll likely have a couple good "quality" wins. Cal Poly possibly (if they beat EWU) and the Cats.

If we win out it'll show that we definitely deserve to be in the playoffs and I don't think anyone will think otherwise.

Here's hoping that we do win out!

Sarcasm is lost on so many...

Ranco, your post went right over the heads of most. Again, he WASN'T actually knocking NDSU!!!!! In fact, his post really has nothing to do with the Bizon. Ranco knows they're great no matter who they play, as we all do. He's making fun of SOME Griz fans who have beat the living s--t out of the "we haven't played anyone" horse.

NDSU's task to repeat took a serious hit this week with their all world middle linebacker (Olson) out for the season with a knee injury. We'll see how this impacts their play on defense which is the reason for their success the last 2 years.

Great leader and person.

Defense will not miss a beat. Olson comes out in nickel situations and CLJ, OLBer will move over and replace him.

I don't squat about your team, but my guess is the loss of one player is not make or break for the Bizon's chances of a three peat. The program is strong - period. The question for me is how ridiculously good are those who will be asked to step up in Olson's absence. If I was a betting man (I am no longer, because when I was I lost my ass) I would wager that the backups are very good.
