NDSU Bison 38-10 over #12 South.Illinois

Last I checked we have a few Montana players (from recent years) playing in the NFL, real Montana kids. So one would ask, is it the quality of the Montana players we recruit or something else? With that said I have no problem filling the positions with players from any state....I just think the "something else" is what has been biting us in recent years.

Very excited about our recruits this year especially. Lets hope we can utilize them to the best of their potential.

I am guessing that Montana has more non residents on their team than residents as well. Virtually every school does, outside of maybe Texas and California schools.

Perfectly wrong. All Griz players reside in Montana. In fact, most every other school has its players residing in state. NDSU is the only one I know of that apparently buses players in for games.

You guys really get fired up about NDSU don't you? I really don't get it.

Yeah, it's crazy how much time I spend posting on the NDSU board.

Guess I come here occasionally still from time to time to see what other news is going on in the FCS. Generally do not engage in smack talk, other than with my UND friends, as I find it pointless. If you are trying to fire me up it isn't going to happen.

Good luck the rest of the season. Maybe I'll see you guys in the playoffs sometime.

Cool. Thanks for stopping by.

That is pretty cool to see the NFL talent in Montana. Always root for the small state guys. North Dakota has produced some great talent in state, however there is just inherently going to be less of a talent pool to draw from with not even 700k residents in the state. I think NDSU does a great job keeping what we can but have unfortunately lost done talent to FBS schools in recent years.

I think NDSU does a great job recruiting Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Nebraska. The Minnesota and Wisconsin pipelines have been vital to NDSU's success going back to the 1960' s.

I agree with that. Tough to beat that team of big Minnesota guys. Pretty soon, I bet NDSU will have a chance to snag UM's record for consecutive wins.

3>2. Guess I don't personally care where the kids come from if they help NDSU win.

Yeah, they don't come from anywhere in North Dakota, that's for sure. Like, literally nobody on the team who actually plays is from ND, right?

And don't listen to AWF, I honestly think they have an outside shot at breaking UM's record if they keep both hands on the wheel.

I eyeballed 17 on the NDSU roster. 4 starters (2 offense and 2 defense), and 3 more on the depth chart--from the release last week. This includes special teams.

It is just built-up envy. You guys are what we used to be, and it eats at your guts as a Griz fan. Too bad our fan base is so complacent that they just accept our decline now, with idle hope that it can be resurrected under this over-matched coaching staff which we have in place.

1) What does our fanbase have to do with winning? We can show up, and pony up our money, but it's on our staff, players and AD to put a championship team on the field. Does ASU blame their recent struggles on their fanbase?
2) This same fanbase is constantly bitching about our wins, our staff, our "game day experience", hell, EVERYTHING. Complacent is hardly the first word that comes to mind. Entitlement maybe.

They are 49-2 since the start of the 2011 season. The YSU loss was the rare occasion that they just pissed it down their leg. The ISU game was representative of how you beat NDSU. Get turnovers and score off them. Control the clock on your side.

It will not be a high powered no defense playing team like EWU or Coastal that will take NDSU down. It will be a team with a stout defense and physical running game.

So just out of curiosity, what do you think UM's record is/was for consecutive wins? Lets just say that NDSU probably has slightly better than an "outside shot" at breaking UM's record. ;)

Great answer.

I guess some NDSU fans come off as arrogant on the fan sites. Montana fans did as well thinking back to 2003 when I came on this site before NDSU played Montana that year. In all time spent tailgating, I never saw an NDSU fan treat an opposing fan with nothing more than great hospitality. We aren't in Montana's conference and rarely have had an impact on your postseason success. Until that happens, there is no point in hostile attitudes.

Back in 2006 and 2007, NDSU probably had their best teams ever and might have been the best team in the FCS. I never recall going on Bisonville seeing a weekly tracking and trash talking of the teams who were winning championships when NDSU was not able to.

I think Montana is fine. Last time I checked, they have two losses to an FBS team and a loss to probably the best team in the FCS this year. Nothing to be ashamed of. Like it or not, I think your coach is doing the right thing. Come playoff time, running the ball and playing good defense tends to dictate games.
