I was also at the 2015 game, and while it was a freaking blast I just remember the huge letdown after the following week when the Griz then lost to cal poly by 1 at home (was also there for that one) and then lost to liberty on the road by 10….that was the start of what would be an 8-5 season, and stitts best year at Montana…..if I’m being honest, I don’t remember much of the stitt years fondly at all, and believe the high water mark for him was probably that NDSU win in ‘15.

I don't think you're supposed to remember those years fondly, if at all.

But yeah I remember watching that game as a junior in high school at my friend's house (all bison fans) after morning football practice. Was familiar with the Bison, but all I knew about the Griz was my family hated them being from Bozeman, and they were this almost mythical and ancient program from the far west. I fell in love ever since Counts plunged into the end zone to seal the deal. Came out to school here, but those Stitt years and early Bobby years were the mess that I saw up close. So pardon my pessimism from earlier, I just don't know what to do with being a fan of a great team besides just enjoying the ride. Feels so good to see the echoes of past I've since heard so much about in this team.

Honestly, the worst thing that ever happened to Stitt was beating NDSU in his first game. Set a level of expectation he was NEVER going to live up to…and then to go out and lose to Cal Poly and a couple others and be 4-4 after 8 games…was all down hill after NDSU.

After reading this today it got me thinking about the stitt era, so I went back and looked at all the scores and many of the stat sheets from his tenure here. It makes for a painful reminder of how bad things were getting. TERRIBLE defense under stitt….just awful. Go back and look for yourself…woof

They lost some headscratchers, that’s for sure. Cal Poly. Liberty. Portland State. UNC FFS….just some weird performances…

Remember the DLine under seymore after gregorak left???? They didn’t even go into a freaking three point stance. They all stood up on the line, and routinely had their asses blown off the line, especially by the bubbies. Seymore is now the defensive coordinator at Marshall I believe. Hard to believe he’s still employable as a defensive coordinator after the abysmal performances of his defenses he produced here.

Oh god…NO! Please don’t let this be true. A team is fired up to play in the semifinals…please tell me you’re trolling? This is totally unexpected.

Holy mother of god, you sound like a complete tool. You haven’t spoken to anyone. It’s boosters like you that have ruined college football.

Boosters like these have been a part of the sport since time immemorial, as irritating as they are

I gotta ask, what made you think this was worth sharing here? Like what substance does anyone get from this kind of comment. Of course players are fired up for a national semifinal between two decorated programs with proud tradition.

Glad you have access to the bison players to learn that, I guess?

Because some think the coach is a distraction. It’s quite the opposite is all I’m saying. It’s relevant and fargo is small enough to be close to players etc

I know right  Griz players are totally unprepared for NDSU being fired up

All right you skinny assed, outdoorsy, gonna run 10 miles and then do a P90X workout before going tailgating fools...make room for the Bison, or Buffalos, or UNDSU fans, or Thunder.c.unts, whatever you want to call us. I'm here to tell you we're coming and hell is coming with us. Along with our own triple ply toilet paper and hand sanitizer. And the ashtray, this paddle game, the remote control, and the lamp...that's all we need.

Cold and loud. We don't dress in layers for outdoor football cuz we don't need to! HA! Get it? Cuz we're fat and we like gravy from Golden Corral.

When we win, that's gonna make you guys the 5th best team in the Dakotas. I used the transitive rarefraction property of score comparison to come to that conclusion.

Is Montana Ale Works any good?

It’s going to be a long winter of finger poppin their cousins aceholes in the Canola fields after this game.

Have you ever been in Valley City or Hope or Mandan. Holy hell if you can’t finger pop a cousin in the ice house it’s a long 7 months.

Oh I spent a year in Valley City...you be speakin the truth!

But saying "they're fired up" tells us exactly nothing. Players should be fired up for every game. This is an empty saying, it's coachspeak. Everyone says their players are fired up.

You could say, "theyre so fired up, they're doing X" "they're so fired up, this is what they've said."

Empty sayings are for politicians, not football fans.

Ale Works is just alright imo. I love the house root beer though and its an interesting enough rotating menu of local food though. Pork schnitzel sandwich is their signature item from what I understand. If you're needing Bozeman recs I'd stop at Cafe Zydeco if you're there during their hours. Even if it's a ways in town, it's worth the detour.

And hey, even if your prediction about the Dakota standings comes true, at least the Cats will be 6th. Though I'm doubtful it'll come to that.

I think it's a great match up for the Griz! Im curious where most NDSU's sacks and tfl's have come from? Looks like it's the 2 DE's, usually off the edge? Our edge creates a little more distance to travel so that match-up is fun. Miller is going to need to throw, how's he do hurried? If the pass d and our offense show up a lil, I think it'll be a long game for NDSU

I was at the 2015 game in the NEZ surrounded by Griz lunatics :-) in my Bison gear. Near the end when the Bison had the ball near midfield as time was runnign out and they PASSED I turned to the guy next to me and said WTF? He agreed the the Bison should sit on it and there wouldn't be enought time left. Anyway of course Roberts(?) caught everything thrown up and the end was inevitable. Fun game. I may be able to be there Saturday. WA-Griz is a fantastic atmosphere. NDSU tailgating is better, though.

2015 = 1st game of the season on a smoky day on a holiday weekend. Not even close to what is to be found at Griz tailgates. Come on back and you will see how well fed and lubricated you will be. :thumb:

There is plenty of cold beer, shots, toddies and fantastic hot food but not many Hot Dishes. 😁
