Yeah that paper tiger only lost to the FCS runner up by two on the road in the playoffs despite 4 first quarter turnovers. Cal Poly held SHSU's offense to 241 yards and 16 points. SHSU had one of the top offenses in the FCS.AZGrizFan said:NLGrizFan said:Haha!! Ok, just checking. Those are 2 excellent programs right now. I'm thinkin maybe a Cal Poly and Southern Illinois for 2013. But I'm hoping the Griz prove me wrong.OldtiredGRiz said:NLGrizFan said:So what are ya sayin? These two programs are gonna be dead in the water this coming season?
Not for a second. Those two programs could well meet for a third time in a row for the national title. I was just posting that the game is airing on ESPNU in case someone might want to watch it again. And that even though I know who won, I'm going to watch for a while.
Cal Poly was a paper tiger in '12. They're going to really struggle to equal last year's record.
SIU....who the f**k knows....I mean, outside of NDSU, what do we REALLY know about the MFVC?

For comparison EWU gave up 503 yards and 45 points to SHSU at home. MSU gave up 458 yards and 34 points at home to SHSU. In 2011 Montana gave up 496 yards and 31 points to SHSU.
Cal Poly returns 10 defensive starters in 2013. I think this paper tiger has more teeth than you are giving it credit for.

I'm not a Cal Poly fan by any means (in the sense that I don't know a lot about their program). I streamed the game last season and I thought CP looked solid. And to be flat out and honest, I think they're gonna be the only team that beat the Griz in the regular season. Without googling it I couldn't tell you off hand who they lost to last season but I do remember it wasn't a blow out. CP is the real deal. IMO

Mainly because I've heard what a great place San Luis Obispo is and I want to visit there and see a great game. So come on, Stangs, step it up!
That game is exactly the reason we are opting out of an out-of-state wedding of a wonderful young woman we have known since she was born. Of course, her family will only hear the other (absolutely legitimate) reasons we will be unable to attend such wedding.AllWeatherFan said:I want Cal Poly to do well, I really do. I wish I had that option!! My family decided to plan a family reunion at the end of this month. I told them we (my girlfriend and I) couldn't make it. And without even batting an eye my mom said, "You could go to a game anytime." She knows all about the App St game. I'm still tryin to figure out a way around it. I love our familie's cabin but I love GRIZ Football even more.'68griz said:That game is exactly the reason we are opting out of an out-of-state wedding of a wonderful young woman we have known since she was born. Well maybe SHSU just had a bad game against them?? Like I was sayin, I'm not much of a CP fan but them seemed to have their stuff together when they played each other. I woulda rather seen a EWU/NDSU NC game anyhow. Maybe they're not as tough as I thought...marceagfan5 said:NLGrizFan said:This!! ^^SloStang said:Yeah that paper tiger only lost to the FCS runner up by two on the road in the playoffs despite 4 first quarter turnovers. Cal Poly lost twice in in the regular season a close one to Sac and a butt kickin to EWU. The reason you could call them a paper tiger is the fact that they lost their starting QB and RB, arguably their 2 best players from last year and they were 0-2 against teams that made the playoffs.
Cal Poly is always a tough game though and I think they will have a solid season, plus they have a pretty easy conference schedule this year, just like MSU.

Hell No. I'm not betting against my team. Sorry. I'm just sayin that I've got some respect for CP is all.poorgriz said:NLGrizFan said:This!! ^^SloStang said:Yeah that paper tiger only lost to the FCS runner up by two on the road in the playoffs despite 4 first quarter turnovers. Care to place a wager on that?
They're playing in here. And the week after is EWU here. Back to back home games. Ya know. The sCats ruined me on betting for a while so I'm gonna have to say not today. Sorry. Tempting. Very Tempting. But, sorry. That MSU/SHSU kinda burned.poorgriz said:I'm saying... That you're going to lose more that one reg season game, and you are correct... You won't beat CP at their place.
You need a better family! My family planned a family reunion for that weekend as well...AROUND the football game, specifically to give me an excuse to come to Montana (at least that's my story... )NLGrizFan said:I wish I had that option!!
