NCAA Smackdown?

So, I'm hearing some disturbing rumors. Is it true that the NCAA could be getting involved with this? I have heard that they could pull scholarships, and maybe even ban us from post-season play-off's for a season or two due to all of the crap that's been going on. Can anyone shed some light on this? It's bad enough that we are going to have to ride out this storm with a new coach & AD, but to add those kind of penalties to our program......that's going to kill us!!

Anybody know anything?

At least attribute the rumors. If you heard it from Jean Gee or Chris Lynn or somebody who works in an OFFICIAL capacity with the University of Montana, or somebody who works in an official capacity with the NCAA, then by all means, be very scared. If it's a friend, who talked to a friend, who knows a guy, or if it was posted on here or Bobcat nationa, and yes, I include myself in that demographic, than I wouldn't get too scared.

Didn't hear it from anyone official, but have heard it from some people who are fairly knowledgeable about NCAA rules & regs. Just wondered if anyone out there could confirm or deny this.

Than I wouldn't worry about it. I have a lot of "friends and sources in the know" in Missoula too, and with rumors like these, they're wrong more than they are right. Not to mention, one thing I've come to grips with over the last 24 hours is (and it has made me feel much better) is, as a fan, what the hell could you do about it even IF the NCAA is going to investigate the program? Nothing. It's beyond our control. But again, something as serious as an NCAA investigation, I wouldn't put too much stock in "people in the know" unless they are in an official capacity at the university or the NCAA. Just my opinion.

I don't know anything but have heard the rumors regarding the alleged involvement of the attorneys. Playerep say's he has the pipeline at the very top so maybe he would either confirm or dismiss whether anyone at the Univeristy (Aronofsky maybe?) or Gee has discussed this rumor with him or whether Engstrom has changed any policies. From my 30,000 foot view I think some of the efforts of some attorneys that support the program has been a big part of the problem.

I seriously doubt the NCAA is sniffing around. The recent cases are more police based, if you will, then heavy NCAA rule violations.

Dunno about the NCAA, but I'm pretty sure the Dept of Education's Office for Civil Rights has an investigation going on.
