NCAA Should Issue Formal Apology to UM, for bad refs

Bluenoser said:
Considering sending the following off to [email protected] and would like a quick grammatical review from Eriul:

I have a rule question, but first a little background. I have two jobs, one being a football official in the Southland Conference and the other being a cosplay clown where I do skits nationally, specializing as an Auguste Clown.

For my buddy grizzlemoose:

http://www.humourfoundation.com.au/resources/history-of-clowning.html#Types" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; of Clown

Recently my clown association received a call to fly to Pittsburgh to reenact Super Bowl XL for the three surviving members (the ones that didn’t take steroids) of the ‘70’s Steelers teams. Seems they are really into pantomime which isn’t really our schtick but I digress as apparently Bradshaw is the only one that can tell the difference and he just likes the cheap laughs and we do this every year. My clown buddies and I hop on the plane headed for Pittsburgh and after a much longer flight than expected we get off the plane and are greeted by someone wearing a Red’s Bar hat and an envelope stuffed with twenty $5 bills. Apparently he mistakes us for the actual game officials for some playoff game in Missoula, Montana (never let the Tramp Clown make your reservations) and they have been waiting our arrival. Given that we were about to receive double what we would have been paid for the Pittsburgh job, we said “we can do this” and off we went.

Late in the third quarter – maybe it was the fourth, we were hitting the schnapps at halftime – we’re looking forward to getting off the frozen tundra when suddenly the home team starts mounting a comeback. If you’ve ever worn clown shoes on the frozen tundra you know that those big, bulbous areas at the toes are just empty space with no insulation and I was beginning to lose all feeling in my big toe. And I’m sure you know that of all the toes, the big one is the most important one to an Auguste Clown, but I again digress.

So I get a call from the Hobo Clown in the booth – who at the time was making reservations to Moose Jaw for our return flight for a Strange Brew convention – who thought he saw something a few plays back and attempted to activate my joy buzzer. Luckily I had the remote-activated salted chocolate balls “snake can” in my pants as a backup in the event of a frozen actuator on the joy buzzer, and the salted chocolate balls device did work, albeit a couple plays after the perceived infraction. We decided to go back to mid-3rd quarter and marked the ball for Montana 2ND and 7, five yards deep in their own end zone, forgetting that the actual goal was to get off the frozen tundra to save my frozen big toe.

My question is, do we need to reimburse the Southland Conference for the expense of the schnapps (listed as Mo Club Go Juice on the Tramp Clown's expense report)?

Bluenoser:

It's good to have you back. I asked you in August to take a break, rest up, eat your wild locust and honey and come back with a post that matched your epic Ice Age reference, warming up with a heard of buffalo and pole dancers from Fred's lounge classic from the off season. You did that. Not quite as good but good.

Umm... I have a BA in English and in my bold opinion I would think "fatally flawed" and "good" contradict each other.

Maybe you should used the term "flawed."

No one on here also claimed that the Griz would have won had the call been correct. It's pretty well documented that I have claimed that the game would have been much different if it wasn't for the NUMEROUS "flaws" that the reffing crew held the entire game. I would be bitching just as hard if there were this many flaws that influenced the game in our favor. It just so happened that these flaws ALL went negatively towards the Griz except the 1 which was the catch(which I still haven't really looked at closely to tell, at the time of the game it was too close for me to decide but I hear that it was favorable to us which is just another example of the piss poor reffing.)
A BA in English, eh? That explains why you're still in school...And a team can be fatally flawed and still be good. This year's Griz are exhibit A. They were able to overcome their flaws most of the time, but there were too many to overcome once the competition was stepped up. We've discussed their weaknesses ad nauseam all season...Coastal just had the right game plan and personnel to exploit our obvious weaknesses.

Also got a bachelor's in history and am in Master's school for Business Admin. Any more comments about my education at 23 years old?

Also I thought CCU was "on level with PSU?"

p.s. your term fatally flawed is a fatally flawed one. Maybe try using the term exposable or just flawed. You give off WAY too many bad interpretations.

I will withhold any additional comments on your education. A bachelors in English and a bachelors in History speak for themselves.

And I said I THOUGHT CCU was on the same level as PSU. I have already admitted my mistake. Why is that so hard to understand? We were EXACTLY who I thought we were...played basically the same game we have played all year. CCU was considerably better than I had thought...case closed. And I will use whatever f***[*] terms I want. I don't need an English teacher, thank you very little.

You're so mad lol you need to take a break. First insulting my education then you get defensive over your terrible writing after critiquing my reading comprehension. I'm not sure your lat sentence is true...

What is it about that post that makes you think I'm mad? The only thing that makes me mad is that we're obviously putting out English majors who have horrible reading comprehension skills....and since we KNOW the only thing English & History majors are good for is becoming a teacher, I fear for the youth of America... I, on the other hand, KNOW my lat [sic] sentence is true. :thumb:

Dear Eriul,

A helpful tip: Make your point (succinctly) and get out. Don't argue endlessly with people. It's boring. Don't feel bad - I gave the same helpful tip to jcu27.

You're welcome.

Uhh are you kidding me? You're seriously insulting my education? You miss the part where I'm in master's school? Just choosing to ignore that fact huh? It's interesting because I would actually argue that the job I had during my in between time(after I finished undergrad and started grad school) made more money than 95% of this board and it actually involved technology.

Hint: The world has changed for college educated graduates in today's society. It doesn't matter what you major in. Hell I knew some music majors that went to a job that has nothing to do with music making 6 figures and I know a business major who became a bank teller for $9 an hour. It's past the point where your major means anything, you need a master's degree to do anything in today's society.

Enjoy your insight, and thoughtful posts, Eriul!

Not trying to sound like I doubt you, but there are some folks on eGriz that have REALLY "deep pockets"...and that group of people is a bit larger than 5%.

Good to know, I honestly didn't know. I just generalized around what people in Missoula make but I guess I shoulda said more than 95% of people my age make.

Having worked at Microsoft (with dozens of other Montanans) at a time when just about everyone was a millionaire, I can attest that how much money one makes (or doesn't) has little to do with their worth as a human being.

I've also had the opportunity to hang out with a few billionaires through my interest in WWII aviation. Some great people, others not so much. I'm more impressed on what they're like as a person than the size of their bank account.

I agree I was just pointing out a counterpoint to the ignorant statement that "English and History majors can't do anything but teach" theory. I personally worked with technology during my summers but yah doesn't matter. Just was pointing out that majors in today's college don't mean the same thing as majors in previous years.

You are like Pavlov's dog--Bragging about your education. Bragging about how much money you've made. Bragging about hanging out with Griz football players. You, little girl, have one serious inferiority complex...is life just one (figurative) dick measuring contest to you?

AZ, it's generally best not to argue with a badass dude that knows how to conjugate verbs and pulled in a salary greater than 95% of us po' folk. This BAMF rocks a nine incher, just ask him.
