NCAA Miami Invest. Results to Be Announced this Morning

The N.C.A.A. will unveil the findings of its investigation into Miami athletics and any proposed sanctions Tuesday morning.

"Now the school and the public will learn the NCAA’s decision. A teleconference scheduled for Tuesday morning will outline the NCAA’s findings. Scholarship reductions and further postseason bans for both the football and men’s basketball programs are possible, although Miami could appeal any further sanctions.

Another postseason ban, if delivered, would be an especially tough blow to the Hurricanes this season.

Miami has won eight straight games dating back to last year and is off to its best start since 2004."

3 football schollies for 3 years. Same with hoops. 3-year school probation. This would put a tight leash on texting/recruiting. Some sanctions against former hoops (5 game suspension) and other former coaches. Miami had previously self-imposed 2 years of bowl bans and last year's ACC championship, all in prior seasons.

Shapiro, the booster now in jail for a $900 million ponzi scheme, had alleged that this involved 70 players.

NCAA didn't consider about 20% of what it had gathered illegally/unethically. The NCAA is lucky it didn't get sued by Miami for the improprieties in the investigation.

Considered a big win for Miami.

Compare to $320 of bail "loan" for a week by a player mom, a tiny amount of pro bono legal services (done in connection in evaluation of a contingency fee case)--neither of which the university athletic department was part of--and a bunch of home-cooked meals (largely by unknown moms who were considered "boosters" by the ncaa because they buy season tickets or whatever; and no recruiting violations or anything of significance. UM's handling of its ncaa investigation was truly pathetic.

Yes, but crooked organizations chasing money are not to be trusted. Looking out for the student athletes is a worse guise than saying McDonalds is providing a healthy menu to keep us skinny.

While the 9 scholarships over 3 years seems low, and the no-postseason ban is nice...that isn't all Miami got.

They self-imposed 2 post-season bans, and this investigation took an enormous amount of time. This made it difficult to recruit because the recruits didn't know what was going to happen.

All of this based off of the claims of a man who lied for a living. Yeah, the NCAA is corrupt.

I haven't read into it, but apparently the basketball coach, Frank Haith, was the worst offender in all of this and only got 5 game suspension, he now coaches at Missouri.
