Arrogance, Ignorance, Stupidity, Incompetence and Corruption go together hand-in-hand, be it the NCAA and/or the Madison Project.

Fixed it for ya.

You are WAY too narrow and political.

I know, I know; but that was the only one out of three of four in the same category I could remember right off the top of my head.

I vote Vegas!!!! State that does not have an FCS team so no home state field advantages plus it's easy and cheap to fly to Vegas. Couple that with all there is to do there and that game would draw fans from even moderate fan bases. I just think Vegas is a better destination spot that Frisco! For sure more than Chatty.

This will never happen as the NCAA will no longer play championship events in a place that allows sports gambling if they don't have to. This came up a few years ago with Delaware or some other school I believe.

You mean like the WCC, WAC, MWC, and Pac-12 basketball Championship events?

Those are conference championships, not ncaa championships.

That's a fantastic idea. When UNLV plays a team with even a moderate fan base the place is packed because you get to see your team play and spend time in Vegas. 65 and sunny today.

You clearly haven't been to a game at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Unfortunately, I've been to more Rebel losses than I care to count. I realize the stadium is usually empty, but my point is that when UNLV plays teams with a passionate fan base, fans come. 2010 Wisconsin game had 30,000 and the Nevada game had 28,000. 2011 Boise State game had 26,000. This season had 27,000 for the Arizona game. You can't expect a large crowd when teams like UNLV and Central Michigan are playing. If teams like Montana and NDSU got to the chipper, you bet that place would be packed.

From a 2012 article:

"The National Collegiate Athletic Association will relocate five championships from New Jersey after the state adopted regulations for sports wagering at racetracks and Atlantic City casinos.

NCAA rules prohibit holding any championship session in a state with legal wagering that’s based on single-game betting involving a point spread or money line.

While sports gambling is still prohibited in New Jersey by a 1992 federal law, the state has filed a lawsuit challenging the ban. Yesterday’s action by the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement will allow casinos and racetracks to apply for licenses to provide sports wagering starting Jan. 9, 2013, with the applications costing $50,000.

“The law in New Jersey requires that we no longer host championships in the state,” Mark Lewis, NCAA executive vice president of championships and alliances, said in a statement. “We will work hard in the days ahead to find new suitable host locations which will allow the student-athletes to have the best possible competitive experience.”

Among the NCAA events that will be moved out of New Jersey from 2013 are regionals for the Division I men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships in Piscataway, and early-round games for the Division I women’s basketball championship in Trenton."

Very interesting. I wonder why conference championships are acceptable but NCAA championships are not. I'd be surprised if you could even bet on first round women's games and swimming/diving. Not sure how this does not provide athletes with "the best possible competitive experience."

Because the NCAA has absolutely nothing to do with conference championships.

And yes you can bet on first round women's games.

When passionate fan bases play anyone they travel well. It's not a UNLV phenomenon. In UNLVs case all is does is ensure that Rebel fans are outnumbered in their own stadium. The only game you point to that is really supports your thought is the Wisconsin game. (which I was at). The fact that the Nevada game only had 28,000 is an embarrassment. Can you imagine Griz/cat in a stadium only 3/4 full. Boise State has an OK crowd because of the brand and the fact that the Mormons show up (BYU also has a good crowd when they play here). Arizona is a 5 hour drive. If Zona fans had to fly there wouldn't have been that many there.

You are counting on a team with a passionate fan base making it. What happens when you have Stony Brook and Coastal Carolina playing for it all? Playoff attendance should tell you that there simply are not enough fans outside of a couple schools that would make a dent in the attendance. Chattanooga had a strong local support base that boosted attendance. Frisco has some of that as well. 99% of Vegas locals couldn't care less about this game. And most of those that do won't drive to Hendertucky to watch it when they will have a better view at home.

Sam Boyd can seat 40k for football. No way is that place selling out for this game no matter who plays in it. Montana has trouble sometimes selling half that many tickets to a home playoff game, they sure as hell won't be able to sell 20k for a road game. Neither will the other team involved. Locals won't go so where are you going to fill the rest of the seats.

None of this matters as the NCAA will never play the game in Vegas anyways.

ESPN is the real 800 pound gorilla. They’ve even gotten into who is playing who and when for many of the big regular season FBS conference games. We need ESPN to tell the NCAA to sunset their rule that you've pointed out. The question will be to figure out how ESPN can make money by doing so ... and yes, I know changing that rule wouldn’t have anything to do with our FCS NC game.

The field is Frisco's responsibility, just like it was Chattanooga's in 2004. Should the NCAA have someone check the condition of the field? Probably but I imagine this would meet whatever minimum standard they have.

FWIW the NCAA doesn't have anything to do with the BCS Championship game...

As the saying goes, you dance with the one you brought. The NCAA, should have crossed Frisco off the list as soon as realized Pizza Hit Park, Now Toyota Park, had a grass surface. It's January. Even in Texas grass isn't at its best in January.

Frisco is a great place for the title game. That community supports the game, the venue is the right size and it is very easy to fly into Dallas and not too expensive. Tons of hotels, bars and restaurants around the stadium...ample room for tailgating as well. I flew in roundtrip from Minneapolis for $270 bucks. Hard to beat that.

The turf situation was terrible and there is no excuse for it but I am confident it will be a one time occurrence. The turf was great the in both 2011 and 2012.

It's hard to schedule a venue that's perfect but people who say the NCAA had 0 liability due to the field make me question wtf the NCAA even does...

They can rule and regulate where the game is played yet have 0 liability or concern over the stadium/turf?

Something doesn't seem right here...

It's the NCAA, they have guaranteed revenues of roughly 800 million over 10 years because March Madness. They do what they want because they can, kinda sorta like our government, capche.

Flights to Minneapolis aren't cheap, though. I was never big on the Las Vegas talk for the title, but it's appealing to me more and more. Vegas is cheap from anywhere.
