NCAA decision today

To allow the Big12 to hold a conference championship game with 10 teams! Should they choose too! I would imagine the other P5 conferences are not happy. Heck most of them expanded to have a conference championship game to better seat themselves for the playoffs. Those expansion adding two to four teams and having to spread the wealth in doing so.

I wonder what if any fallout comes from this? Would P5 conferences look to out members? Or do schools look to split and create new conferences? Does the new playoff system expand?

We could see some pretty interesting things in the coming months and years.

I hope UM sees this and are working to position themselves.

It means the Sunbelt no longer needs Idaho and New Mexico St....

Idaho might very well come crawling back to the Big Sky... but from what I hear New Mexico St would shoot themselves in the foot as a FBS independent before going back to FCS

Unlike Idaho, NMSU has never been in 1-AA or FCS. Idaho doesn't have much more interest in FCS than NMSU.

Was their stint in the Missouri Valley Conference not at the I-AA level?

Since 1959 NMSU (formerly New Mexico A&M) has been successively classified as Major College, Division 1, Division 1-A. They were in the Border Conf. with Arizona, Arizona St., Texas Tech, UNM, UTEP (1931-1961) prior to formation of the WAC. It was once not unusual for teams within a conference to have different NCAA classifications. Idaho retained its Major College classification when it became a charter member of the BSC in 1963.

That's right... I forgot Missouri Valley Conference before becoming the Missouri valley Football Conference was a gumbo of 1-A and 1-AA teams . Weird times.

I know I'm not very smart, but I have no idea what is on the table here. Are they proposing a game with 10 teams? Like a Royal Rumble? They are choosing as well?

Am confused as well. But I know we wouldn't want to go out over the top rope. Royal rumbles seem to always be fixed. And it's been a while since someone has been able to work in a move up thread.

But but...I thought the Big12 was chomping at the bit to add NDSU to strengthen their conference???? Is this not the case anymore???
