NBA All Star Game......

Anybody watching this game? West up 92 to 90 at half time. Where in the hell is the defense? Nobody puts their hands up, total BS. HOW MANY FOWELS HAVE BEEN CALLED IN THIS GAME?? No wonder I love watching Grizz basketball !

Yeah the NBA all star game is an absolute joke. It's gotten worse over the years too... It was bad enough back in the 90s but sometimes there was some defense played. Now there's none. I don't even bother watching it anymore. It's 173 - 151 right now with over 5 mins to go in the 4th quarter.

8 fouls have been called total on the West and 7 on the East.

The West has put up 129 shots so far, the east 118.

To make it even worse, you have players who ended up on the all star team not because of their performance this year but more because of their lifetime performance. Like Kobe for example. Meanwhile Lillard got snubbed yet again...

UPDATE. West up 176 to 155 with four minutes left. I thought they might make 200 but I don't think so at this point. Can't stand to watch this game.

The only All Star game I watch is MLB. Football, basketball, and hockey all star games are all jokes. The lack of defense and effort is a complete joke to those who truly love the sport. Even as a kid, I would ask adults and coaches, "Why don't they play defense and hard?" The competitions before the game are cool though.

You are right. I forgot about Lillard! That is as bad as Holmes getting snubbed for the combine, which I'm still pissed he didn't get picked. Also, speaking of Kobe, I was a big fan of the Lakers and Magic Johnson, when I lived in LA, but not any more since Shaquille and Kobe stared playing for the Lakers.

FFS... Final score was 196-173....

That's not basketball... That's just pathetic.

The West took 149 shots and the east took 137 shots. There were only 8 fouls called on each team.

Maybe they should make the all star game actually matter. Like have it determine who has home court advantage for the finals or something (like in MLB). Then maybe the players would actually be semi-interested in playing defense out there.

As a big fan of basketball I can't even bring myself to watch the all star game anymore. Not even a single quarter of it. I just refuse to watch any of it. It's not basketball...it's a travesty.

Thankfully with it being mid February we have March Madness coming up soon... so I'll be able to cleanse my palate by watching REAL basketball (college basketball) on the big screen and rooting for the mid majors in the tournament!

Hopefully the Griz will be one of those mid majors in the tournament this year :thumb:

And also hoping Tennessee State gets in too so DeShields gets a shot at the tournament in his senior year.

Yeah the Lillard snub was bad again this year. SBNation called it the "Biggest NBA all-star snub, again" since it's been 2 years in a row he's been snubbed. Charles Barkley was very pissed about the snub last year (video here). Lillard is having a fantastic season this year too and yet got snubbed again in favor of players who were great years ago...but not so great now. Besides being a joke the NBA All Star game seems to be more of a lifetime achievement award rather than rewarding players who are playing great THIS season.

The dunk contest was EPIC for what it's worth....

Agreed. How Gordon didn't win that competition is beyond me. His third and fourth dunks were unreal! That dude can jump out of the gym. (Not to take away from Lavine, he's a freak, too.)

I watched Aaron Gordon about a dozen times in high school and the thing that always impressed me was how hard he played...I never saw anyone with his talent play as hard...he is just getting his feet under him as a pro but you have to remember when he turned pro he was 18 years old and then injured his foot and sat most of his rookie year....the best for him is yet to come...

I saw 30 seconds of the all-star game right before half and the announcers were very earnestly talking about the shooting percentages to that point, like it was crucial statistical interpretation. I'm certain 6-8 baskets were made meanwhile with no mention of who was on the floor. It's every bit Championship Wrestling. Lilliard should be glad he wasn't involved in that silliness.

I became a fan of his watching him play for Arizona in the tournament. Noticed the same things you mentioned. Really hoping he can develop into a complete player in the pros. He seems to have the right attitude.
