As far as developing QBs? Track record is absolutely terrible for that.
Ask Dalton Sneed, Cam Humphrey and Lucas Johnson how they felt about playing for the Griz. I don't think any of them regret coming here. Outside of Tommy what QB's have the Cats developed? And you are talking about injuries. Look how the Cats have overused QBs. Anderson? Cat coaches beat the heck out of that kid. Tommy has been hurt the last two years. That concussion last year was about as scary of an injury as I have seen in awhile. Keep running him that much and it will have an adverse effect on his career. He is one big hit away from being done. I hope not because he is an awesome kid. But obviously from the last few months you can see the guy calling the plays isn't much on responsibility and safety.
This is the main issue. They caught lightning in a bottle two seasons ago as a Cinderella with a new QB who couldn't throw but could run. So, they did that. Over and over again, until they were so one-dimensional that they started calling FFGPTBs. Then last year it was, "Hey, guys, this worked, so let's keep doing it." because nobody associated with the program had ever experienced success like that at MSU. Dude gets knocked out on the field. Now, they have to decide whether to risk yet another guy's career by trying to do the same thing OR protect the QB. I hope the OC has learned there are more important things in life and will do the right thing, but I wouldn't bet on it. They've certainly bulked Tommie TD up quite a bit, but that's maybe another conversation.
