NAU

3-4 record. NM highlands, MSU, and ISU not exactly the most quality of wins. Sourers will have the Jacks pumped up for this game.

With Cookus injury they have leaned more on the RBs and TEs. They are always good on the O-line. The question is do they have the goods to hang with UM? Loses to an improved UNC and whipping by EWU, do they have confidence with the wins over MSU and ISU?

This does not appear to be as strong of a team that started the year(mainly due to injury).

Trap game scenario, with EWU looming. Will Stitt keep team focused on task at hand, if so this could get ugly for the Jacks.

Throw the season stats out the door, Sourer's is going to lean on his D to derail UM. The better NAU can control the clock and shorten the game the better their chances of success will be.

If UM can take care of the ball and get an early lead on NAU, the Griz should be fine. Turnovers could derail UM.

With UM adding wrinkles to the offense and the two mid-season scrimmages, overall team health, and confidence UM could blow the doors off NAU. One side point, has anyone noticed the veer motion UM has used the last two weeks. Although no plays have gone to the veer, the added wrinkle gives DC another thing to consider. The deep veer motion can open up weak side run or swing pass if containment breaks down or is not honored. The funny thing is it may never be used, may just be thrown in to mess with NAU and EWU coaching staffs. Keep a eye on if the veer motion is used this week.

Great post. IMO, I'm cautiously optimistic that we can make a deep playoff run this year. But, I'm pretty hesitant still because I don't believe our defense has been tested yet. A dominating defensive performance here (and against EWU) would make me believe that we have a shot at the championship. Amazing considering it's Stitts second year. But, I definitely believe we have the raw talent.

It's gonna sound crazy, but we need to struggle against NAU. We need to have a bad turnover or two and get behind the 8-ball.

After 2 blowout wins, this young team needs to get that uneasiness back in their gut and have to surge to get back on top of someone. I think NAU is out-matched here, but they've got the home field and a bit of elevation on their side, and they could come out guns-blazing and catch us off guard early, and I hope they do. I say we win this one in the end, but I predict a bumpy first half.

I think the ugly turnovers and blown coverages and the little QB that could and the missed FG at CP was enough to straighten out his year's Griz team. Road trippin has got to end, hope this team figures out how to excel on road trips. Anywhere, anyone, anytime would be great to see.

I agree, I think Cal Poly may have been the game that got everyone's attention much like Sacramento State did in 2011 and Weber State did in 2008.

I want this team to have the killer instinct they've shown the last three games. Blow NAU away. Do that and our chances of getting a W in Cheney are very good.

It's too early for this team to be believing its own press coverage on how good they are. They need to stay focused, work hard, and believe in each other. Once they win the championship in January they can start to believe in how good the press and stats make them sound.

The season begins this weekend in Flagstaff!

They win these next two in dominant fashion and I am all in drinking the kool aid maroon colored glasses all the way to the end of the ride. Most likely they will split the difference win one lose one but God i hope I am wrong

JLM not on the two-deep again this week.

Hmmm. Interesting and I hope this will be the last one he sits out. They will certainly need him for EWU. On a positive note - the other weapons on the team will continue to develop nicely.

The Cal Poly loss exposed our D as far as discipline. I hope after the loss that the kids are really focused on doing their 1/11. After watching NAU at MSU this could get ugly as well and, if it does, this team will be rolling going into Cheney.

UM is built better to compete with NAU and EWU than we are to play CP. We could use Cat logic and say we are one point from being undefeated, doesn't fly in the real world. We are what our record is, putting more importance in the next two games.

NAU has some good athletes and are capable of beating anyone in the BSC. I think we have the better team, but Montana has to play good mistake-free football to win this game.
