Nope. They aren't that good. When we beat them with a 3d-4th string QB and a 11th string secondary on Saturday, there will be a lot of pissed off "Griz fans" posting "yeah, but . . ." posts.

They beat a pretty good IL St. team badly.

Yes they did kick the shit out of Illinois state. I was talking about big sky play.

An Ill St team that is a little over rated. They also had it handed to them by a mediocre S Ill team and their sig wins are against a very cold YSU and a S Dak team that's starting to come back down to earth.

Best QB in the league...

That's the problem IMO.
They have the Montanas and SUU to finish the year. If they can navigate that successfully, they're good enough. Their November history is not favorable to them, but they've not always had a Cookus. Preview Saturday.

NAU Defense is going to present a little bit of challenge too. I've not seen a Big Sky defense fly around the field like they do, in the years I've been following. A lot of athletes that feed off each other and love to compete to be the best on the field... One guy makes a big play, the others want to go one better. Fun to watch..

Their wins kinda sound like our wins.... mighty Valpo, Savannah State, PSU, ND, and ISU. None of them have close to a winning record except non-scholarship Valpo. I guess we could brag about stomping them. How many years should we wait for a victory against a team with a winning record? I know. I know. Baby steps! We are building this thing one meaningless win at a time!

I think that November history is a little bit of a pipedream for some folks looking for hope. See it on MSU and EWU message boards too. The new NAU Offensive Coordinator keeps the foot on the gas regardless of the score. He gets better as the game goes on with his play-calling. I think in the recent past we've had a tendency to get too conservative, resulting in changing momentum negatively later in games. This guy doesn't do that.

Not sure how it's going to go on Saturday because it is very tough to play @ Montana, and they are talented. The perceived history of collapses won't play into how the game goes this Saturday, or the remaining two weeks.

Totally different NAU team this year.

Not to mention Jerome is leaving after this year! One for the gipper!

there will be a lot of disappointed fans. Not sure which will be more disappointed the NAU fans who have false hope or the Griz haters.....probably equal on the disappointment dial.
