This game will not be a test. It won't be close. Griz are going to roll.
I'm gonna have to agree with Griz2k. If their O can't put up big points against a 0-4 team and their D does the majority of the work I'm gonna have to say the Griz will roll on thru here. I just cant see NAU's D giving JJ many problems. I'm not sayin Baumann will not make a difference, either, but I just can't see the Good Guys having any troubles with NAU (providing their previous performances). I can't see UCD even puttin a battle up against Weber but NAU can only muster up a win by 11 (thanks to bad QB play/an aware NAU D).
I'm gonna stick with my prediction of 31-13 Griz.

Good report! If NAU does alot of man/press coverage, you might be right with pistol/read option, or alot of play action. You make them honest, by the potential of either run or pass. I say we keep doing what we have been with the run game, and then burn them man-to-man with the long ball.

If our D tackles (Bienemann, Takai and Kidder) can dominate the smaller interior O linemen for NAU (their LG is 272 pounds, center is 275 and the RG is only 225) and keep those guys off of Coyle that will be a huge step in shutting down the run game.

Thanks for the scouting report Britt.

With our offense rolling and our defense showing good balance I see the Griz with a BIG win. Add in the revenge factor after being embarrassed last season plus the fact J Johnson will be hot, I see us with a win of 40 - to - 16 Really!

Further, I predict we hold Baumann to 100 or less yards of running and even less after he catches a pass or two. We get two or more turn-overs and roll up 350+ yards on offense.

While I am at it I think Worst at best gets two field goals. Shaw hits the roof with a 50 yard punt. Our new safety will play lights out. Probably two guys.

So you have it, our third big test will be over before you know it. Count it. 4 and 0 ----

I get a kick out the “this is our first real test” cliché on e-griz. You guys say that every week. ASU, UND were supposed to be “real tests”, and after we pounded them, they were weak in hindsight.

After the Griz beat NAU, then PSU will be the “first real test” and so on and so on.
that hapoens early when everyone bases things on last year. Doesnt matter. Every game is a test. Better to fky under the radar, you dont grt anything for being rated#1 now it only counts after tge last game is played

I predict App State is 5-2 going into their tilt against GSU. They (ASU) COMPLETELY outplayed NC A&T, but a pick-6 and a KO return for a TD doomed the 'Neers. ASU ain't NEARLY as bad as the EWOOO fans would have one believe...

as usual b/w, thank you for your thoughts and scouting report....it makes the game so much more fun to watch knowing what are the strengths and potential weakness of the team we are about to play....thanks again...

225! Pretty sure Takai takes bigger shits then that. We should dominate the trenches. As long as we don't lose the turnover battle we should win easily. Turnovers are always key.

All we have to do is tackle, that is what cost the Griz that game last year was lots of terrible angles and tackling. The D ends must make sure to contain, make Bauman have to run straight at our linebackers, I will take our linebackers vs Bauman any day.

Thanks as always for the write up Brint. NAU always plays the Griz tough in the Skydome. I can recall a number if close calls in Flagstaff over the years. I predict the Griz will have Bauman's number a la Greg Hardin at UND. I think it will be a hard fought game played to the end. Good guys prevail 30-17, Worst kicks 3 for 3 field goals.

Insider info on NAU this week

Grosshart was underrated and they seem to be missing him big time this year.
If they still run that goofy 3-4, we should be able to run on them and the middle should be easy pickins for JJ.
How 'bout some crossing patterns! kinda like how we won done there a few years back.

I agree AZ. I was able to catch Apps game vs NCA&T and App played well. Two bad plays killed em..... I still think App was very good, just couldn't punch it in when they got to the red zone when they played UM. When we played them they missed multiple scoring opportunities that would have made the scoreboard look a whole lot different. They will en up winning a lot of games this year IMO.
