NAU Game Thread

They're saying great call on BCN and they were much better than we were without Cookus playing. Sounds like a great loss all the way around.

Alternative "fact" (if you're paranoid): Going for it is as Win--(sorta) Win for the kitties.

If the cats pull off the 2-point conversion and get the upset win, that would be great for them. But they already had five losses, so they were not going anywhere, really. They could hope to beat the Griz ... but that would still buy them nothing but state bragging rights.

But not beating NAU means that the Jacks still have only one BSC loss ... keeping them ahead of the Griz in conference and even in the overall record. So losing is a kind of back-handed stab at the Griz.

How'm I doing? Paranoid enough?

Why the f*** they go for two there??? With a qb that can’t throw
"You play to win the game" ... or so the saying goes.

But actually: Really, really ... really stupid move. Sure, their season is already down the crapper ... but you have to be totally brain-dead, or arrogant beyond belief, to pass up a legit chance to win in OT and put it totally on one role of the dice (one play).

Is anyone surprised?

I'm not sure. It is kind of one of those things passed on in coaching lore that if you are an underdog, on the road, at the end of the game you take the chance to seal it. You obviously have some momentum. And really what did Choate have to lose because while mathematically they may have been in it realistically no playoffs weren't going to happen? One thing for sure is that the Cats at least have the potential to make it close next weekend although it is difficult to see how they hold the Griz to less than 40.

Why not go for 2. Cats aren't playing for the playoffs. If you have a play you like, I say go for it. Totally fine with the decision.

Ok. Fine. Than it was the dumbest play call ever. They had a way better chance running it up the gut in a dive. Having the worst throwing QB in the conference try and throw?? Yuckkk

Another quality loss. Bobcats, losing with style. A real talent I’d say.

Easily the best 4 - 6 team in the country, possibly ever! I can’t think of a team with 6 better, super high-quality losses! Remember, all those losses were by a combined 27 points if you take out the Washington State loss.

This is exactly why they brought in Choate. Beating skies and owning states like you read about. Change only ten pivotal plays in six games or so, and this team would be close to undefeated. Sixty plays away. So close. Tons of upside.
