My guess is that kenpom's stats aren't accurate. For example, kenpom's stat for Weber doesn't agree with what's on Weber's website. The Weber website has a higher percentage. I'll go with the ncaa stats.

So Kenpom says most teams average about 70 possessions per game.

If you scored 75 points per game, you're doing pretty well, that would rank you 40th nationally this year, in the top 12% of D-I.

So if you average a little better than 1 point per possession, you've got a pretty efficient offense.

The best FG% teams in the country are 50% = 1 pt/possession.
42.5% from 3pt gets you 1.27 pts/possession.
The best FT% teams in the country are about 80%. Get to the line for 2 shots and you get 1.6 pts/possession.

Gotta be able to shoot 3's and FT's.

My guess is that kenpom's stats aren't accurate. For example, kenpom's stat for Weber doesn't agree with what's on Weber's website. The Weber website has a higher percentage. I'll go with the ncaa stats.

Maybe a good guess. It's tough to get consistent stats over the course of a season, especially in a conference like the Big Sky. Regardless, I think the merit of Kenpom doesn't really derive from the basic stats. The site seems to cut the data in different and more interesting ways than others. Even if it's wrong about 3pt % here, one thing is certain: NAU and Weber can jack the threes.

GrizDDS, do you know if Kenpom counts a missed shot and subsequent offensive board as two different possessions? I honestly don't know.

This one is regular season only, and seems to fall in line with PlayerRep's original statement that Weber was third in 3pt%. Do the NCAA stats include conference tournaments? There are other inconsistencies, though. Maybe just rounding errors...
