NAU and Weber State games.......

I have a huge favor to ask anyone involved with U of M or knows a few decision makers.

Is it possible to make these 2 games available for viewing in archives?

These game times not only stink for the locals that attend, but for us out of staters that follow the GRIZ. Many of us enjoy watching the internet feeds. Between going to live games, radio, and internet, I have not missed enjoying a GRIZ game since Kennedy left.

For this GRIZ fan, it would be a great Christmas gift if something can be arranged to have these games available through archives, even it is for a limited time only.

I appreciate it, and thank anyone in advance that can look into this one. Seriously, scheduling any game on weekday afternoon, What is the thinking and reasoning behind this? Sorry, and not trying to offend anyone, but how stupid of a decision is that? Sorry, just a little disappointed and upset about this. I am as passionate about GRIZ basketball, if not more, than I am GRIZ football. :thumb:

Please, do whatever it takes to see this never happens again. Thank you

Not to mention they are likely to be our two biggest home conference games of the year aside from the rivalry game. Just ridiculous.

I totally agree that 1 p.m. games on a weekday are ridiculous. However, I think we will be at both games.

Poor timing for the teams to play a 1:00 game against.

I have a question about travel partners. Does the Big Sky now rotate travel partners every year? I always thought Weber and ISU traveled together, and NAU and Sac State. At leaset for the Griz schedule, this year NAU travels with Weber, Sac State with Northern Colorado, and ISU is the odd one out.

Here's my impression of what happened as far as scheduling of men's basketball. For the first game, I believe there was a Grizzly volleyball scheduled in the evening that night. While for the NAU and WSU BB games there is the championship game of the holiday classic scheduled for that evening besides the consolation game. The 31st is obvious for the scheduling. It just turned out to be bad luck for the significance of those games.

I wonder how much revenue the GRIZ will lose from scheduling these. I honestly believe an evening game or even weekend after noon game could have gotten 4k to 5k in attendance. They will be lucky to get 1500 to 2K as is. I am guessing, on tickets alone, at least 15K was lost, plus concessions, drawing, etc.

Announced attendance should be over 3,000. Season ticket holders are counted whether they show up or not. 2,530 was the lowest attended game this season which was an afternoon game on a friday against a team many fans would likely skip if it were in the evening. these two games will not be that kind of game.
I suspect since this is the holidays, a lot of people will be taking the holiday off work and will show up for the games whether the game is in the evening or afternoon. If this wasn't the holiday period, than this surely would be a disaster. I believe there will be some people that usually go to the games that won't, but there will be a few people that are not working due to the holidays that will replace them. Plus, there will be some that will come because they work evenings.
thus, overall, there likely won't be as high of a loss of revenue as you think as the much of the revenue for these games have already been earned prior to the start of the season with the season ticket sales.
the athletic department isn't going to lose anything with regards to concessions as that all goes to the general fund and not to athletics. Of course, some of the general fund goes to athletics so may be some loss. 50/50 tickets could take a small hit.

Thursday's game is in the afternoon because Selvig likely had his Lady Griz scheduled during the evening and rented out the arena before the mens game was scheduled. therefore, mens game was scheduled in the afternoon. As for Friday, UM could have scheduled that game later. MSU is playing NAU on friday at I think around 4:05pm, which may be better than 1 pm.
Of course, UM in conjunction with NAU, WSU, and MSU could have arranged for these games on other days. there are some big sky schools playing friday-sunday (psu-isu-nc-sac). All the other games are wednesday - friday. All friday games are earlier than usual.

Scheduling is a bummer the way it is, but it is too late to reschedule them now. Since the teams have to rent out the arena at a time that is available to them, the athletic department can't rearrange the games as easily.

I'm not real crazy about having to use Vacation time in order to see these two games! If it happens again next year I may not get season tickets for the first time in 15 years!
