Musburger and Palmer

I'd suggest going back and listening to it again, and just don't hear it but listen to it. That was easily the best called game involving a Griz team ever. Very fair, and all about the FCS - rarely about the FBS. If they had the chance they'd be back - and that's a huge compliment for our team, our fans and our state.

At one point Musburger started to make a comment about the FBS and Palmer steered it quickly right back to this game and these two teams. I thought they both did an awesome job...and Jesse Palmer was very gregarious when he walked into the Mo Club Friday afternoon and sat down beside me at the bar. Really nice guy, talked with him for a few minutes and he posed for pictures with my wife (who is a 36DD, so that might have something to do with his friendliness but I guess we'll never know?)... 8-) 8-) 8-)

i was on twitter when he ask where to eat. i told him to go to the missouls club, he tweeted his burger from the mo club 8-)

I thought the Musburger and Palmer duo gave really good kudos throughout to Brady, Nate Harris, JR Nelson, Nguyen, Holmes, and several WR's -

Musburger is a Griz homer, I love it. I'm almost certain he gets a Montana or Griz mention in every game he does, it's awesome. "College A isn't as strong at receiver because player A left last who, whom replaced receiver B who now plays for the Titans...who is by chance teammates with Marc Mariani, whom was unbelievable at the University of Montana, those Grizzlies"!! I swear I've heard references that ridiculous by Musburger.
True enough, but we also kinda thought they could have evened out the discussion players, etc. at the game went on.

There were two stages here, I think. Early on, Musburger talked up NDSU because they were the 1-AA champs ... that was entirely appropriate. Then as someone pointed out, the Griz scored a few times and Musburger got all excited. And maybe he thought had gotten too excited. Say what you want about his announcing style, he is a pro, and has been at it long time. He may been consciously trying to not lean too far toward the home team. Plus, for a long time it did look like NDSU was going to win.

[That being said, we were damn happy about the broadcast, even with this tinsy -- and probably misguided -- quibble. ]

What is 1-AA?
It is a reference used by those of us that don't give a s@#t about politically correct speech and the "feel good" FCS nomenclature.

I agree. I think he was talking about the NFL prospects of a couple NDSU players because they're a known commodity. No one really knew hoe BG would come out and sling it around.

The only wrinkle with the ESPN coverage was Palmer's overuse of the word "wrinkle". Other than that, it was great.

I got the sense at times that BM was doing all he could to avoid looking like a Griz homer. And I agree with Mike that because of that he sometimes came across as an NDSU shrill.

That is definitely a possibility I considered. Trying too hard?

Oh if figured after a decade we would figure it out. Politically correct and just plain correct are different. Do you still call part of the NFL the AFL too?

Mike, I'm not sure what you were listening to, but I heard it completely different. They pumped up both teams ALL GAME, and Musberger went bezerk every time the Griz scored. Oh yeah, and the Brady comment, first, they were talking about his major and his GPA, and after Musberger said that, Palmer said, "He might be too busy the next 15 years to do taxes", implying that Brady is NFL caliber. In fact, Musberger and Palmer both, mentioned Brady and the NFL, more than once.

You're honestly the very first person, I've heard talk negatively about the broadcast. The whole time I was in the stadium, I was getting texts from people telling me how awesome the broadcast was, and when i watched it last night, i got goosebumps.

COULDN'T AGREE MORE, LOVED HEARING MUSBURGER AND PALMER, THEY DID A GREAT JOB!

Hell, they even mentioned our LB that didn't play...hinting he may be NFL talent.

I did, I called BG a "GUNSLINGER" before the season. I patted myself on the back, no need. :thumb:

yeah, but did they say anything about the weather?
Ha ha, talked A LOT about the smoke and how it affects cardio, and how Montana has been training in it for a month and NDSU would be gassed by the end of the game. Jessie talked about going for a run on Thursday and he could barely breath because of the smoke (and probably the altitude, but I am just guessing on that part, he didn't mention it). :thumb:
