Musberger and ESPN to call game from the press box roof!

WTF, Root Sports does the broadcast well with the press box, as has ESPN in the past? ESPN has been here for playoff broadcasts, how in the hell could they not have addressed this sooner? Another reason why to have Fox or Root be the broadcast provider for FCS football. I do hope the ESPN crew is having a great time, despite the smoky air.

The winds that are expected during the afternoon will put an end to the broadcastering from a roof. This game seems like a bad experience for some people. This is football. This game is coming on like the game we will remember forever. I can hardly wait for fun to begin. GO GRIZ!

I think Brent and Jesse will probably be in the camera hut on top of the press box (if it's big enough) so thw win probably won't be an issue

Has anyone really thought this through?

I just don't think they will have a very clear view from across the river atop the Press Box.

if it's nice (windless, sunless) day, up on the roof would be ideal compared to the sardine can they would otherwise be forced to broadcast from. The corner they would presumably broadcast from would not give much protection from wind and that might make them (HIM) change their/his mind but as long as it isnt raining, they'll probably stick to it.

The PressBox is woe-fully out-dated. There are exactly 2 toilets in the entire place. At half time it is elbow-to-elbow ppl and a 5-minute wait to pee. There is no money to be made building a nicer, bigger Pressbox though, so it is way low of the priorities. It WILL happen, but only with (as mentioned) an entire expansion of the west side which I would guess is about 5 years away. Don't bring your full bladders up there until then. Thank You.

ESPN may have to reconsider and use the press box. The air quality could be more harmful if they keep to broadcasting from the top. I am listening to Tutall (sp?) and Tucker on 102.9 FM, the Missoula Air quality control says, right now the air quality is dangerous with exposure longer than an hour. They are suggesting to buy face masks to help keep the smoke out of our lungs.

I hope wind and rain will reduce the smoke in the air.

It's eirie down here in the Root right now. I don't mind it. Someone else's smoke. Have friends in Idaho that lost everything a couple of weeks ago. I think you would need some type of respirator. I don't think the little cheap ass sanding masks help. I think for bird flu but not for smoke.

I saw my first face-mask wearer in Missoula today, a guy driving a (cheap, small) motorcycle, looked right out of China. I don't see the air quality getting better by tomorrow and it is definately NOT good. It could definately affect players who log a lot of minute, especially late in the game needing a breather. It could affect our guys as easily as theirs. This isn't something you "get used to".

Face masks won't do crap unless people show up wearing respirators.

It is only so bad over there right now because a cold front is pushing towards you guys and it is pushing a wall of smoke right at you. It was that bad over here in Idaho but now you can see for ten miles after the front passed us.
So hopefully the front will push on through the valleys and blow the smoke on out by morning.

Could be worse, he could be calling the game from the M....

Could be even more worse, he could be calling the ndsu game from the liter-box...oh wait, the kitties prefer to play high school U (fort lewis).

The smoke was bad most of the day in Helena but now it's cleared out considerably. Still smoky, but nothing like it was earlier. I can actually see mountains off in the distance now.

Because Musburger asked for his regular SEC broadcasting crew, there are more production people in the booth than for previous broadcasts.

I don't think that has any validity. No matter where Musburger and Palmer broadcast, there will probably be only one other person (spotter) in their immediate space during the broadcast. It's not like Musburger is gonna have 5 "handlers". It just means they brought in their A crew. The "A" crew isn't any larger than the B or D crew, just better at their jobs.

Same thing with the Spokane/CdA area. It's been bad to real bad lately. Today was pretty good, the mountains were in pretty clear view this afternoon
