Murphy "retires"

The program left Guffey behind several years ago.

So are you saying he's like the "stapler" guy, Milton Waddams, from Office Space? :thumb:

Unfortunately, Guffey needs to go. A lot of the media aspects on gogriz.com are rarely updated, and I am pretty sure he is the main guy behind it. In addition, he is kind of an asshole if you call him out on it.

Guff was already demoted from a big-window office upstairs to a glorified bunker in the basement years ago. I'm not sure if they took away his stapler or not.

Cold-hearted boss to Guff:"Since you're down here, it would be really great if you could just sort of take care of the cockroach problem we've been having in here."

There's not much (many people) left from yesteryear in Griz Athletics anymore. Engstrom, and now Haslem, seem intent on stamping their seal-of-approval on anyone and everyone (besides the basketball coaches) involved with Griz athletics with little, to no, appreciation for "time-served". Guff has his quirks, but he knows Griz history better than anyone working at UM currently and has NEVER been in the paper for any scandalous or negative in his 30+ years of dedication to the Griz. That kind of thing use to be a desired quality in a Sports Information Director. Whichever politically-correct "new-guy" they bring in won't know jack-squat about Griz history like Guff. I don't think we'll ever see a 'career' kind of SID like Guff again. This will be a stepping-stone job for some young buck looking to advance his career and making a few more $'s somewhere else eventually, instead of someone who wants to settle in and take pride in being THE Griz historian and accept fewer and fewer perks over the years without complaining. A big "thanks for nothing" to a lifelong dedicated employee.

with the benefits packages that UM offers, it's pretty easy to see why folks stay so long.
Doesn't apply to successful coaches...
Yeah, for athletics coaches not so good, but for average employees they offer one of the best packages in Missoula.
