Even if their o-coordinator accepted this fact they would be good but they still insist on running the ball at teams.

just out of curiousity have you seen a game yet this season where the cats were unable to run the ball and we just insisted on trying? we are still averaging nearly 200 yards a game on the ground. aside from eastern and davis who shut down the rush pretty good we have managed to run on anyone. but even in those games i didn't get the feeling that we just simply insisted on rushing. we still mixed it up and simply didn't abandon the run.

now, this is not to suggest we'll run the ball all over the griz. they have maybe the best line we'll have faced. i'm just pointing out that i haven't seen a game yet this season where we were unable to run the ball successfully but still insisted on trying. no offense is every going to just stop running the ball....even against a good defensive line.
Yea I've seen a game and you're o-line is no match for our d-line. I hope you try to run the ball all day saturday.

OC has done a great job of compensating for a less than stellar oline. Our TE's and H back block really well, we sometimes bring in a third tackle to act as a TE, and mcghee is great with play action.

That said, the msu oline will need to bring their A game, as UM has a fantastic front 7.

Yeah. I expect to see MSU use the pass to set up the run, kind of like what EWU did to cal poly.

Doing the opposite will not work against us.

Like he said before, I hope the cats try, though. :thumb:

MSU: 24 UM: 17 To win this game, UM will have to commit no penalties or TOs. MSU is a clean, mean, football machine. I hope the game stays w/in one TD. Ok, now w/ the stats to show I'm wrong on penalties & TOs. :)

When MSU only scores in the 20s, its tight. Griz need to grind it out, control the clock, keep them away from the ball. A rested D gets after DM and he becomes ineffective. If the Griz run like a well tuned machine, Griz 28 - 24. If the coaches and the players continue as they have, the Cats are capable of handing out a jaw dropping, humiliating loss, somewhere is the 63 - 20 range. Reality probably lies somewhere in the middle. My heart says W, but my brain says L.

One of the keys is holding the scats on 3rd down and reduce they're number of offensive plays. Another interesting fact is the scats are a relatively highly penalized team. A few false starts here and there surely will help down and distance. The obvious problem is our corners but IMO the scats don't have as talented receivers as UND, EWU, or even SUU. What they do have is a good system and usually make the right calls so Tye is going have his hands full and convince the players to do their 1/11th.

With all the talk can SSH, or McKinney handle the magnitude of this game? They need to take what the defense allows and move the chains. If the o-line puts on the DOLA caps early and we can a few early breaks this game will be wild but we have to play a full 4 quarters. If msu gets out fast in the 1st quarter we are in for a long afternoon.

I have often said we beat the cats because we have better players and better coaching. This years game will be different. Not will the players show up but will the coaching staff? I hope the kids have fun with this game, and put this season to bed with a W. Can we win? Yes... Find out Saturday

Go Griz!!

I saw the Drake game and your offensive line was borderline pathetic. I know they have been coached up a bit with some smoke and mirrors but you cant change the fact that they are young, small and weak. I think the griz win this game up front on both sides of the ball, especially if Minter has a gimp.

yep...o-line is definitely the weak link on this team. but that drake game was a long time ago and they have gotten better every weak. and as wbtfg said, we have designed plays to make this less of an issue. you can call it smoke and mirrors....i call it good game planning.

the truth is that they are doing enough right now despite their inexperience. number one scoring offense. number 4 total offense. number 4 rushing offense. and it's not like mcghee is getting killed out there....

i'd say you guys definitely have the advantage here. i'm just optimistic enough to think that even with great effort on the part or your line....it's not going to be enough to shut down the cat offense. but as i have said before, this will easily be the best front 7 the cats have seen so far. no disagreement there.

Size matters here as it has in the past. I think the Griz D line wears down the smaller cats o line in the second half. McGhee will scramble more to compensate and when he is caught behind the line he is a turn over machine. Blitz McGhee relentlessly and remember he usually breaks to the right when pressured. Remember when McGhee is neautralized the cats are reduced to NAIA level. That being said, if the game is close at the half then the griz win by 10. if not then it will be a long year for the good guys.
The intangible is the Griz qb. This is a rivalry game. SSH and TM may be too jack up to play effectively. Hauck had his team too jacked up in his first Brawl and it did not work too well. Maybe AB would be a good choice at qb because he may be pretty removed from the emotions?

In West Yellowstone we have Humpin' Humphrey....and his prognostication for the Griz is not looking so good! The bears will hibernate early, hungry and pissed!

Cats-more points than the Griz

As Griz fans we are facing a strange situation of knowing 100% this will be the last game of the season and our last chance to see some great seniors play as Griz. I cant imagine a better way to end a disappointing season than to keep the Great Divide trophy where it rightfully belongs, in Missoula. Heres to a great group of seniors, GO GRIZ!

GRIZ - 38

montana state - 31

I wish I shared the enthusiasm of the Griz fans here, but I don't have a lot of confidence in the coaching staff. I hope they prove me wrong. The seniors on this team will hopefully play the best game of their college career, in spite of all....

I think if the Griz can hold the Cats to under 30, you have a good chance. I think I heard somewhere a few weeks ago that Ash is undefeated or darn near close when his Cat teams score 30. The Cats offense can struggle a bit on the road. We still struggle with physical defenses. If the Griz keep our ground game in check, I'm afraid we'll bang our heads against the wall a bit with that, get impatient and force somethings offensively. We need Bleskin out there as well. Capable backups, but the chemistry between McGhee and Bleskin is what bails us out of some sticky situations.

If the Griz get running, I like their chances. If we contain the Griz rushing offense (keyword: contain, not shut down), I think we can escape with a W.

Brain talking: I think there's a great chance we get our asses handed to us...
Heart talking: We play the game of the season and win in dramatic fashion...

GO GRIZ!!!
