MSU vs Idaho...Only Game in the Nation

if it was the Griz, MSU would pay to run ads in the game promoting its university to an audience not familiar enough to realize it wasn't the Montana school playing. This is what MSU did last year when the roles were reversed.

No need to kick rocks and pout. Do something about it.

What an opportunity for recruiting and enrollment to have a 7 PM kickoff on ESPN without competing with any other game in the country. Wish it were the Griz.
I'm expecting a closer game this time. It would still take a massive effort from Idaho to pull this off, but the got a better shot this time than they did in October.

MSU has done that since at least 2010. UM has been so slow on the take on that. They’re finally sorta doing the same, but still woefully behind MSU in marketing…

If Idaho can get up a couple of scores on The Shi##y Kitties--a big IF--make MSU play from behind and start throwing the ball out of necessity, not choice in their run-first offense, Mr. Potato Head has a shot !!!

UM has been aggressively and appropriately marketing our university, including during the TSU game on ESPN 2, one of the many reasons our enrollment is increasing, the primary reason being UM is a great university !!!

Maybe they'll get over the 100K viewing audience this time............doubt it, but we'll see
I get the humor, but realistically, they’re going to pull great numbers with the game being on ESPN.

ESPN pulls even higher tv rating numbers than games that are on ESPN2.

Idaho needs to take some shots downfield. They were very successful last week with the deep ball against Lehigh. In the cats game last week against UT Martin, the Skyhawks got their only first half touchdown on like a 75 yard pass. The cats secondary has shown some vulnerabilities but the problem is that their pass rush has been so good that by the time the receivers get downfield, Grebe and the boys are already in the backfield wreaking havoc. The Idaho receivers need to get separation early and Layne needs to get the ball out quick. I believe this is Idaho's best chance at a win tonight, but they gotta execute and their OL which isn't bad, really needs to hold up tonight.

I might be out to lunch on this, but I don't think there are a very large number of undecided recruits who would be swayed by an MSU home game on TV. Like, I doubt there is some 16-17yo three-star sitting on his couch who will watch this game and decide to let UI or MSU into the mix.

Same probably goes for students. I doubt someone is like, "Wow! Mountains AND minds. What a concept! Hey, Ma! Edit my cover letter, I'm applying to MSU right now!"

I think where this game could primarily help either Mr. Potato 🥔 Head or The Shi##y Kitties is with a few kids in the portal already looking for a new home, CDA.

That's the initial thought, right? I guess my point was more that I think any interested recruit (HS or portal) would likely have either program on his radar (if not direct contact) already. In the modern age of recruiting, I have trouble envisioning a lightbulb moment of discovery for a recruit. Definitely could happen, but I don't think it's very common anymore.
