MSU v. NDSU - not

^ At least we're getting the bye out of the way so we don't have to interrupt the momentum later in the season. :twocents:

MSU fans saying we have no room to talk crap about MSU buying out NDSU because they claim we also bought out NDSU is so incorrect. We never bought them out, and the teams we did buy out we made up by returning the road game. But hey, some people don't need facts. :coffee:

We never returned the road game we bought out from Cal Poly or SDSU.

The road games to Cal Poly in 2008 and 2010 were part of a new 2-home 2-away series that started in 2008, so you could say that it's square at this point.

But I don't remember us ever playing in Brookings.

Griz oughta get all of there games bought out this year to save up for a real nice ones in 2014. Might even be able to afford a few playoffs games for a change.
DAFUQ ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT, GRANDPA??

You all are not giving the cats credit for knowing when to run and hide. They knew they were going to get their asses kicked by NDSU. What was to gain-small pay day and drop 10 plus in rankings. Change to a no lose situation. Play a has been FBS program with decent pay check. Keep the game within 10 points and no losing in rankings. Win and big kudos for playoff position. Cats are an overrated team and the last thing they need is exposing that by playing NDSU. It will come soon enough when they play EWU and eventually UM.

They will meet. In the playoffs. Be patient.

P.S - The Griz may meet them as well in the playoffs (You won't be able to buy them out either like you have done twice already).
:? :?

I believe the schools we bought out were Cal Poly and UND?

Anybody know for sure?

Oh but its okay if the Griz buy teams out. :)

Uh...negative. The UofM has never bought out NDSU.

Actually, now that I think about it, it was SDSU....
Wasn't it SDSU and UND?

I'm pretty sure we bought out Cal Poly, as well.
I think that game was just moved back a year or two (2008) to accommodate schedule opportunities. We had a 2 for 1 home and home in that contract with CPSLO. We're fulfilling the home and home with UND this weekend, OOC, as we play in Grand Forks three years in a row. We have home and homes with NDSU and McNeese coming up. As I recall, the SDSU buyout was to add a home cupcake game, at a time when we had a $1MM deficit assigned to the AD. They had their shot at us in the 2011 playoffs, but went down hard.

The solution to buy-outs is to have large buy-out options (or none) in the contracts.

We weren't buying out marquee games, genius.

I think you guys are making too big of a deal out of this. This buyout makes a ton of sense for the cats. Number one is financial. They make more money. Easy decision. The griz did it for financial reasons in the past as well. Pretty hypocritical to blame them for that. Secondly, Texas has been very good to the cats. It rewards their Texas players by allowing their family members to see them for a game they might not be able to afford coming to Montana. Thirdly, it also can be a recruiting trip for them. They can have recruits come to the game to see them there. The buyout makes perfect sense. Might be some bad PR for them in Fargo and other corners of the FCS, but they get more from it than they lose.

Why the fuss? UM bailed on Cal Poly a couple times and didn't replace with FBS games. Even the overanalysis of the "high school" Monmouth team seems petty. Griz next home gaem may be the biggest "joke" game in our history.

Both teams play plenty of tough and meaningful games this year.

Know Griz don't play this weekend.....but anyone else sensing too much "cat" fever on this board?

I believe that UM merely moved its Cal Poly game to another year. How would you feel if App St bought out its game with UM this year, or UM had bought out its game with App St last year? Buying out a top game is different than buying out a game with a lessor opponent. I don't care what MSU does or did, and there were several valid reasons to buy out the NDSU game, but MSU should not be surprised to get the grief it's getting over the buyout.

Exactly. There were THREE marquee OOC games in all of FCS this year: ASU @ UM, MSU @ NDSU and EWU @ SHSU. The rest of the OOC games I couldn't give two shits about...now we're left with only the EWU @ SHSU game...(which I will be in attendance at, hopefully... 8-) )

The Cats better finish the season top 4 or you can damn-well bet the NCAA would love to see a MSU-NDST matchup in the quarterfinals. And history tells us how that would work out.

Cat won't make the quarters probably won't even make the playoffs.
