MSU with a big return out to the 43. Can Poly hold?
Don't forget that they have Big Game Ron!

Yep, his gameplan lost this game on Tuesday. I didn't really think he was going to go through with it, but Jeeesus H. Ya don't try to out ball control a ball control team when you are a Ferrari team. They're better at it, but that's what he wanted to do to try and help out our shitty defense and fricken Cramsey went along with it too.

So all three of them Ash, Marshall, and Cramsey were stupid fools.

The way to beat Poly is to jump on them early and often, build a 3 score lead, and let the dust settle. Nope, gotta try to "maximize every possession." Why? To keep Bobcat fans from burning Marshall's house down, that's why.

Christ what a bunch of idiots.

The cats would have needed a good defens to do as you say and we all know their defense is mediocre on a good day.

Well, the governor he put on the offense stalled it out a few times in the first half. To win, the defense just needed to do what they did and the offense needed to score every possession like they can do. Cats offense is built for speed, not a drag it out ball control offense.

How bad is the Hamstring injury? Johnson is a major asset for MSU's offense.

Bobcats lose top RB early
Montana State running back Shawn Johnson looked to be off to a great start before a noncontact injury took him out of the game in the first quarter.
Johnson had 42 yards on his first two carries, including a 27-yarder. But on that long run, which moved the Bobcats from their own 45-yard line to the Cal Poly 28 as Montana State was looking to erase a 7-0 Cal Poly lead, Johnson pulled up lame.
The senior running back was in the clear and possibly could have made the score-tying touchdown, but he voluntarily ran out of bounds and began grabbing his left hamstring.
The Bobcats tied the score on a 4-yard run by Jayshawn Gates, but Johnson did not return to the game. Johnson came into the game second on the team in rushing yards and touchdowns behind quarterback Dakota Prukop. He had run 80 times for 527 yards and four touchdowns with a team-leading 6.6 yards per carry.

Their backup is better, I'm sure.

the fact that our defense even gave the impression that they played ok after that performance last night just goes to show how bad they have been all season. if that was a "good" performance then i'm pretty sad. and scared. :o

Yep, Chapter 29: Playing Opossum Doctrine, from Coach ron ash's book, Playing .500 Ball.

"Keep your best players (i.e. first stringers) on the bench until the last one or two games. This gives you the distinct advantages of having both fresh legs and great talent."

Christ what a bunch of idiots.

Your theory is in stark contrast to the msu coaching staff's philosphy. In Coach ron ash's book, Playing .500 Ball (Drake University Press), Chapter 62: They Call Me the Governor.

"Most opponent will expect you to play to your strengths. This is why it is always best to play to your opponents strengths. They will not expect it and that will give you that winning edge."

Also Chapter 74: Be the Man!

"I don't make it a common practice to hire talented assistants. They can only cause trouble for you as a head coach. Keep your supporting cast mediocre and unexceptional. That way they will be completely loyal only to you for fear of unemployment. Nothing could be more detrimental to team cohesiveness than an assistant that many feel is more capable than you are."

Ahhh, it makes sense now. Clearly, I've not read the book. Now I can quit pounding my head against the wall.

Might I suggest you get it on tape? I'm not sure if it's still in production, but there was a version read by Dikembe Mutombo that was very relaxing.

Just saw this thread, I'm not reading it... but I'll make a comment.

I loved seeing Prukop get run down and planted into the ground by that amazing CP LB time and time again. :D

Anyone know - how serious is Johnson's injury? He is an important part of their offense.

If I remember last October 23rd in Bozeman, it was
Montana Grizzlies with 28 points and Shawn Johnson had twelve of the cats' 14 points.
