MSU-PSU do the BSC proud

You NEVER foul in that situation.

In fact, in high school we were playing a simulated scrimage game at practice one day, working on "last minute" situations. During one rep, I was on D and committed a stupid reaching foul in that situation (game tied, 20 seconds left). Let me tell you, I ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran. I ran until I was certain that you never foul in that situation.

Even a casual viewer would have enjoyed a well played game in which both team shot better than 50%.
Very entertaining. Probably just as well the Vikings won since they'll probably avoid an embarassing play-in game. Huse had the Cats ready to play, better than some coaches I can think of. Hmm?

Yeah, like Randy Rahe. He sure failed to get Weber ready to play. WSU laid an absolute egg. There are some pretty irate WSU fans who want to throw that bum out on his rear for the absolute piss pour job he did in the tournament.

There are plusses and minuses to this tournament format for the Regular season Champ:

Plus:
1st place team gets to host the tournament and gets a bye.

Minus:
1st place team gets to sit on their a$$ for a long time to get the chance to play a team coming off of a high of winning the first round game while still getting enough rest.

Looks like the Minus really stuck it to Weber State.

well, you are a decided underdog, the other team is faster and scoring at will and has the ball with enough time to shoot a 2 or 3 or 2+1...they have missed more than half of their free throws...so, why not gamble, as a 6th seed, and put them on the line where it is 50-50 chance.....if they make them you have 10.3 seconds to either drive and get a clear shot as a foul then by PSU would be foolish, or you try another 3 or you play the game that got you that far.....when you are as bad as MSU and having a good night, why not try to win...instead of preventing a loss....sure, defense would be good, but the score shows that neither team did much of that....
Your logic is so flawed I don't know where to begin. It does not matter if you are an underdog, a visitor, a 6th seed, whatever. You never, ever ever ever foul in that situation. You call time out, set up your D, and tell your guys to nut up and get a stop. I don't know how you figure it is a 50-50 chance when it comes to free throws. Is that the combined free throw percentage of the guys on the floor for PSU? Is that the FT percentage Dominic Waters (guy who had the ball and dished for the dunk) had this season? Because on ESPN is said he is a 80.7% FT shooter. Or do you think that shooting free throws is just like flipping a coin? If anything, counting on PSU's 51.8% FG percentage last night is a 50-50 proposition, heads you get what happened last night (still have a shot to win BTW), tails you play in OT.

"Why not try to win?" By fouling you are asking to lose. You essentially give them points and tell your team "I have no confidence in you going to OT, lets try and get lucky here. We will be down by a point or two, but if you guys can hit a miracle, we win".

"Defense would be good but the score shows that neither team did much of that?" All you need is one stop, one stop in a rushed posession has nothing to do with the amount of points you have given up earlier in the game.

As it was stated earlier, I just hope you aren't a coach

I wouldn't call a time-out in that situation to set up my D. In the timeout before that's when I would tell them you match-up right away and make sure you have a man harassing the inbounder and find and deny Dominguez and Waters the ball and allow 1 of the 2 guys to catch and bring the ball up the floor. I agree your players need to understand they need to nut up after the make but, i agree with Brad keeping both timeouts becuase they came in handy at the end. I would have set up a play to get Bynum going towards the hoop for the tie. I felt PSU was getting tired that's why they went cold and I think MSU could have gotten them in over time.

They lost...didn't have to...you win, I give up, I am not successful.....what's with the insults? You aren't that brilliant. You must be a "coach"....I

Montana Gymn Rat....you are comparing a game of two Big Sky teams to the ACC? Are you smoking something?

The style of play, not the level of play. The BSC Championship was more fun to watch all the way through than most of the other smaller conference championships.

You are right! I watched the game with friends...one a Duke fan, the others serious players, and they did not want to watch this game, at first, seeing Stanford was on...but, switching stations, they came away with the same remarks and respect you offer the level of play...I have a feeling if the intensity of that game was consistent in the BSC the entire bball scene would pick up in the West......it was, simply, a great game.....
