MSU player back on team after felony dismissed

My understanding is that Daly had two issues that both occurred prior to him becoming a member of the team. One resulted in him losing his scholarhip, the other being put on non-preferred walk-on status. He then was allowed to earn his scholarship back. He later had some grade issues that resulted in him being suspended for spring ball. He decided to take a year off and came back and seems to be doing great.

And no, Daly did not start the first game of his Freshman year.

It is quite obvious that UM and msu fans will never agree on how the programs should and do handle player discipline.

However, we can all agree that the Griz have consistently handled the cats over the last twenty five years. Based on past history, I expect more of the same in the future. Enough said.

That's right his DUI was between his Freshman year and his flunk out sophomore year, did he start the 1st game of the season right after his DUI, but before he went to court on it? YES HE DID

Actually there were three separate issues, 1st the Robbing of beer from a convience store in Butte after he signed a scholorship to play for the kittens, then the DUI the summer before he flunked out with poor grades.

If Daly was a Griz player you'd be calling for his dismissal on grounds of thuggery and bad behavior regardless of how good of a pass rusher he is. You'd be complaining that if he wasn't a good player the Coach would have kicked him off and cut all ties with him? How is Dalys treatment by Ash not exactly what you say has been going on in Grizville?

MSU - Come out immediately and announce player is suspended, once misdemeanor is resolved player still receives team discipline (typically a one game suspension, but can vary. e.g., Minter received internal discipline, Trammel was kicked off the team).
Daly started the very first game his freshman year after his DUI, and ash never announced any suspension, penalty of otherwise until Daly quit the team then was welcomed back with open arms by everyone and the DUI has never been brought up?

please explain? :?

What did Quinn get for his 2 DUI's?

Quinn didn't have 2 dui's. He plead nolo to one, and received a one (or two)-game suspension and other internal discipline. The second dui charge was bogus and was dropped with a week or 10 days.

What are you talking about, nobody has suggested that UM has allowed a player with a felony charge to stay on the team. Now it wouldn't even be a choice under new student guidelines. The discussion, and let's see if you can follow it, has been whether UM and MSU has handled players getting into trouble the same. And as has been pointed out, that answer is no. Now that you have lost that debate you want to start making up a phantom issue regarding whether UM has ever allowed a player with a felony to stay on the team when nobody has ever made such a statement.

Perhaps you should just go back into denial and pretend the NCAA isn't investigating. That seemed to work for you for a while. It's just too bad UM had to come out and announce it and shatter the bubble you live in.

That is a typical Cat hypocrite post.

First, UM has never let the legal system run its course without taking prompt action, even if O'Day said once or twice that they would let the legal system run its course. Case in point was the taser incident.

Second, MSU didn't take immediate action with this MSU kid. The incident happened around July 4. He wasn't suspended until he was charged with a felony 5 or so weeks later. Please stop with the immediate suspension BS, because it didn't happen in this situation. Was MSU allowing the legal process to run its course (from the time of the incident in early July until the charge in August)? That's why it looks like to me.

Third, UM has never permitted any player charged with a felony, even if the charge was plead down to a misdemeanor, to rejoin the team (except Wilson who won an acquittal). So it looks like MSU is going to do something that UM has not done, which is to allow a player charged with a felony to continue to play.

Again, I have no problem with how UM handled this matter. My problem is only with the Cat hypocrites.

Ash - some believe he is: great guy, absolutely wonderful, great character, handles his team better then any coach in Montana. Props to him......BUT..........................he cant win the big one can he. Until he can do that he will always be average at best.

Yeah, hopefully a NC is on it's way this year. Thats the only big one he has yet to win.

The idiotic comments on this board keep coming. How could Daly have possibly started the first game after he supposedly received a DUI during his freshman year. He didn't play his sophomore year (2010) because he left MSU. And even if you want to get technical and claim that his first game after the phantom DUI charge would have been the first game of his 3rd year (2011) he didn't start that game either.

It's amazing, you even post the stats and some Griz fans want to keep arguing.

Stop before you hurt yourself you are a complete idiot.

Which ridiculous notion? You've had at least three of them in this thread.
