MSU Northern's Sampson Placed on Leave

Classy letter from Sampson. It is not often people take responsibility for their mistakes. I admire him for doing it. It is usually always someone else's fault.

Couldn't agree more.

Classy response from Sampson. He knew he screwed up, even though it does not sound malicious, he still broke the rules. You have to be held to a high standard. The other classic is "Havre has it, and Chinook wants it back" whatever "it" is, I definitely don't want it.

Senor Samson has been football el capitan for 10 years and did not know what he did was wrong? Please pass whatever you all are smoking.

As for me, this smells like Cabo Wabo at 4 a.m after mas tequila shots.....

Don't lose track of the personal tragedy in a situation like this. We all love the jokes about Havre, but this story involves a coach who paid his dues, worked his way up and put up with a difficult place to recruit to and worked as hard as anybody could. Its really too bad.

Easy on Havre fellas. As someone who has been closely involved in this story from the beginning, it has not been a good week. I won't editorialize here, but I will say, there are ALOT of disappointed, angry, confused and upset people in this town, and more importantly, a football team which now must try to go on without the coach who was just with them four days ago, and it if not for Mark's admirable and honorable letter, that team was never even going to be told why they didn't have their coach on the field with them.

I know one of the parents affected by this and the whole story is tragic. But with all due respect, weren't there a lot of disappointed, angry, confused and upset people in Havre before the story broke?

I agree. Mostly it's just sad....

Many of you are giving Havre a bad rap and yet U live in Msla?

Eastern Montana is flat and arid but consists of a bit more than half of Montana. Some of U krackers have wives and girl friends from the east. Many damn good kids attend Lib U from the East. Most of you are smelling huckelberrys and haven't traveled beyond the smoke filled skys of Western Montana.....

Sampson was the subject so stay on him and get your "one up manship" off and on the ex coach! Over and over. Come on Griz fans get a grip!

Which makes me wonder how those mosquitoes grow to the size of small birds.

Yeah Sampsons situation is unfortunate. Consequences of bad choices always are, even when made with good intentions. He'll land on his feet and likely be in a better spot

Just read the Tribune article. Punishment seems over the top for the mistake Sampson made. Gotta respect Sampson for owning the situation.

Born, raised and currently live in Western MT, but I love the Hi-Line.
