MSU @ EWU, who ya got?

Fun fact: MSU has never won a road playoff game if you don't count their one neutral field win for the FCS championship almost 30 years ago.
Why wouldn't you count that game?

MSU beats EWU if they both get there. But I don't see em both getting there. My hunch tells me Illinois State is heading to Bozeman next week. Cats will beat Sammy in a tight one, while Eastern loses to ISU in a tight one. Actually hope I'm wrong...

I guess we'll find out

wbtfg, of the four teams on this side of the bracket, Sammy is far and way the most talented, but they are also more beat up than most people know. Illinois State is probably the hottest team of the four, and EWU is the most helter/skelter, The Eags are very talented but are so sporadic. As for the Cats, they are just SOLID. They need to get their offense to be more productive tomorrow night, but all-in-all, they are the most steady, they have the best coach of the four in my opinion and they have ONE (DM) guy to put them on their back in the fourth quarter if need be. Both QF games will be close, but MSU will win..

Personally I think if msu has a chance the special teams has to win field position battle. msu has put up 32 points in two games.I don't think the cats offense can keep up. They're only saving grace will be the weather. SHSU is a damn good football team. SHSU travels to EWU and Old Dominion travels to NDSU for the semis..

I think both EWU and MSU will face tough road opponents this week. This will be Sam Houston's ninth road Game this year. And yet at the end of the year they were good enough to host a playoff game. That's badass.
Illinois State doesn't have the best record, but their losses are at home, not on the road.
I'd like to think MSU will win, and it has the tougher draw, but I don't think EWU will.

love it if you were right on this one!

but i agree that msu and ewu both have damn good opponents this weekend and forcing a rematch will be difficult for both.

The deciding factor in Bozeman may be the weather. In Bozeman the high today is supposed to 29F and the low 18F with snow showers. If there is any wind that could disrupt the passing game for the cats. If the field is slippery as I assume it will be it will be problematic for both teams' running game, particularly SHSU because of it's reliance on the option.

I do not like the way the MSU offense is playing right now, 16 point average in the last two games and too much reliance on their kicker. I haven't seen SHSU play recently but the one thing I know is they can run the ball. If they can control possession time I think they will win. If MSU can get up big early I think they will win.

The weather report for the Spokane/Cheney area tomorrow is for a high of 30 and a low of 18 but with sunny skies. Thus I doubt that the weather will be much of a factor. I would expect EWU to win this game. While they have been inconsisten this year, Beau Baldwin will have the team ready to go and I would not be surprised to see this be one of EWU play one of their best games of the season.

I thought this was the Montana griz footbal board. Guess not so... Well Allatoona will have a good team next year and Beatiste will be a beast as full time RB

Why wouldn't you count that game?

Because their opponent didn't have home-field advantage either. Regardless, I found it quite shocking that MSU hadn't won a game away from Bozeman in the playoffs in nearly 30 years.

why? many of those years we were bad. and we almost never made the playoffs....

now, when you can show me how those years are relevent in any way to this season i might be inclined to join your line of thinking.... :o

Well, they don't call it home field advantage for nothing. I know Eastern has a great road playoff win under its belt--- defeating SIU a decade ago, but there aren't that many of those. The regional matchups change the equation a bit, both because the travel is less of a factor and because the venue is familiar for the visiting team.

Because MSU lost (big) on the road just last year, and would be facing EWU, who the Cats already lost to at home this year. Cats can't perform in big games, apparently.

I like our record on the maxi pad. If I were you I'd be a little worried about this weekend.
Breaker 19 for Alpha Griz come on back?

I like our 9-3 record all time against MSU in Cheney. I also have confidence in our ability to pull out games where we're behind or tied in the 4th quarter... 11 such wins since 2010.
