If we don't figure out how to play some semblance of defense it is going to be a long year....rather a short year I guess as the team will be watching the playoffs on TV. Hey defensive coaches your corners can't cover anyone so quit playing so much man to man.

they have to play man. We can't get pressure unless we run 6. And safety's & LBs have to key off the run, because we make average Arabs look like NFL prospects.

In fairness to that poster he corrected himself in the next post. He took responsibility for an autocorrect error, something coach ron ash would never do.

Looking at their schedule, they have to win out against FCS schools to get 7 wins for the playsoffs. Will have two wins that probably won't count.

Well, another one of those years for state college. Hard to win with only 6 good players, all on offense.

I'm a little late to this party, but by the sounds of it, the scats have managed to embarrass themselves once again. The take-away might be this: If you coach up a bunch of young men to play an absurd brand of clown football, the possibility of hilariously inept performances should come as no surprise.
I stopped being surprised some years ago...

They did put up 41 points. Their defense was inept but it will improve as they do have a lot of young players and transfers and such. It may be opposite of prior years and they will finish strong. Just say'in!

MSU put up 41 points because NAU's defense started thinking they had the game won in the 3rd quarter. If NAU would have kept the intensity on defense, MSU wouldn't have scored 41.

But nau didn't and the Cats almost came way back.

Yep. Because NAU didn't play defense at the end.

Yes, you are right. However the Cat offense is very good and is explosive. If their defense improves which is most likely as it would be hard to get any worse, then watch out. So goes the Griz with the opposite. Their offense needs much improvement. Especially the run game. Their defense is fine.

MSUs offense scored 41 and 50 points in their losses. How's that for defense?

With that said NAU I believe could have scored more and held the scats to less late in the game.

But nau didn't. Yes The Cats defense sucks, however if it improves the offensive scoring will get them wins. I do think their defense will improve. It cannot get worse.

The Cat defense has been this way for a long time now. I'm not sure how it could improve now, but maybe. One thing is for sure: Ron Ash's decision making is really awful. Any word yet on what (or who) he blamed for his inept calls?
