Most Undisciplined Griz Team in Memory

What a freaking embarrassment we witnessed on the field today. This team had 12 penalties for 125 yards, 4 personal fouls, 5 off-sides penalties (two on 4th down giving SUU a first down), and 4 more penalties which were refused by SUU!

Total lack of discipline from these kids. Has the coaching staff lost this team? The team plays tight, and whines to the refs after every call. An ugly win is much too kind term for the debacle we watched today.

The defensive offsides were bad. Whatever the SUU QB was doing with his cadence was working. Kudos to him, and I hope the linemen enjoy their run to the M.

2 of the unsportsmanlike penalties were just bad calls. Ford's penalty for reacting after getting the business done to him out of bounds on the first offensive snap following his TD is bush league officiating. Robbie getting one for vehemently disagreeing with a bad judgement call by yet another out of position big sigh official is just as bad. Neither player should have been flagged in either situation and to assess unsportsmanlike on the play was just bad officiating.

The late PI call in the red zone was another objectively bad call. From every angle, that's at the very worst equal hand fighting between two players competing for a ball. To throw that flag from across the field is bad. There is no way the official from that distance and at that angle could have had a better view than the 2 officials that were closer and didn't throw a flag.

This isn't a 'total lack of discipline'. That's absurd. This is a team that consistently (for the last 3 weeks) has received substandard officiating. These things happen, it isn't some nefarious scheme to screw Montana, but it's glaringly obvious that the referee crews have struggled mightily the last few weeks. I hope they are able to perform better in the coming weeks, because these athletes deserve better.

There is nothing to suggest that the staff has 'lost the team'. That's just your dislike of Bobby Hauck biasing your already questionable viewpoint. Be better.
Excellent post. And you are, I believe, the first to mention anything about the SUU's QB's cadence. After the second offsides, I expounded to the folks around me that there had to something about the cadence that was throwing the defense off.
We all agree it was an ugly game, and I too firmly believe the bad officiating contributed to it.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Yeah, the refs have it in for our kids, and huddle before the game to plan their bogus-call strategy......... YAWN

3 things.

Firstly, I literally said it’s not anyone out to get Montana.

Secondly, for someone who complains as much as you do about other posters, you do a poor job of not being a test that deserves it.

Lastly, I would expect someone who claims to be a ncaa game official to at least understand the concept of bad officiating from a technical standpoint.

I understand poor officiating, and I agree there were some questionable calls in this game. I just get sick of Griz fans 1) blaming the officials for how undisciplined and poorly we played, and 2) suggesting that the officials are biased against Montana, and, 3) ignoring the many times when the Griz are the benefits of a questionable call, or a missed call, then whining when an adverse call goes against us.

The officials were not the reason we stunk-up the stadium today!

Was that a valid call when the TD by White(?) Was nullified after he left endzone with ball in control but then lost it out of bounds?

Read the rules, then comment. I agree with the call.

Defenders are taught to watch the snap before reacting. Do you think that SUU has the market cornered on tricky cadence? Jeeeez!

No, I do not! Nor did I intimate SUU was doing anything wrong. I just observed that whatever they were doing, it was working.

This officiating was garbage from the jump. Wa-Griz crowd was dumbfounded, but I wouldn’t put this all on the team, outside of the defensive offsides.

Oh, so if a player thinks a call is garbage, he should call the ref an A-hole, and get another 15 yards tacked on???
No.

I literally said none of this, but not disagreeing with you either.
One if our players did that? I was following on the radio.

Changing the count cadence is used by every team. Some QBs are better at it than others. I think that some of our problems in jumping the count were caused by the blitzers faking in-and-out, causing the down linemen to think the ball had been snapped. But, another key for a defender is to not react until the guy trying to block you moves. No matter what the problem was, we can't keep jumping off sides 5 times each game.

Maybe the griz d line was over-salivating given the 3 freshman O linemen they faced today. You guys need to relax - it's W. The problem as I see it is the epidemic of injuries combined with a lack of depth. It's not next man up anymore, this aren't the glory days. Give Bobby time. He's actually come a long way in a short span.

After the blocked FG at the 3+ minute mark of the 4th quarter, SUU had two timeouts left.
The Griz needed to get a couple of first downs to seal the win. We did pick up a first down and forced SUU to burn a TO. It would be obvious at that point to run the clock down to a second or so prior to snapping, but we we still getting up to the line quickly and snapping the ball with more than 15-20 seconds left on the play clock. Very undisciplined. Why wouldn’t the coaches be yelling to KB to huddle up and take all the clock down?
Go Griz!

Yet we got called for a penalty in doing so when, I believe, Sneed was our QB because he clapped once and the ball wasn't snapped until the second clap when all game long they had been snapping the ball on the first clap. Things like that and the non-calls when there is blatant holding are the things people are upset about/complaining about, and legitimately so. Stop being such a holier than thou armchair referee, it's really okay for people to point out things that they observe without being bad fans or blaming the referees for how the team performed.
