what i would have written if not for that infernal liquid in my brain: near the end of the last two games, with the losing team down by two scores, morhinweg called for the coaches to take shots downfield early, as you need to score, and you also need to leave enough time on the clock to score again. neither isu (last week) or the griz (this week) followed that advice, and ran out of time. the teams did make it look like the game was closer, but as morhinweg pointed out, the point is to win. if you lose it doesn't matter if it is by 14 instead of 7, so why not play to win, which, as he said, requires scoring quickly when you are down by two td's with only a few minutes left.... now does it make sense?
I was ok with the time taken to make the first TD, because if you don’t get the FIRST one, the SECOND one is just as meaningless….what I was NOT ok with was burning TWO timeouts during the first drive because of questionable play calling, and letting precious seconds tick off on other plays, thus having to resort to depending on an onside kick to get the ball back, instead of kicking it away, and using TO’s to stop the clock while on defense.
