More Recruits Coming to Town

A JC point guard from Nebraska is in town today. Haven't heard much about him, just know that he's here.

Also have heard there is a 6'10" recruit coming for a visit in the next couple of weeks.

So that makes 3 committed players and 2 possible recruits, with only two scholarships to go around. The math suggests something, but I'll leave the speculation for somebody else.

I am not sure how accurate this info is but I have heard rumors....

I have heard McKay will graduate this spring, and will not return for his senior year.

I have also heard Lynch will not return but transfer to a Frontier team.

That Gives the Griz 4 scholarships.

ALL PURE RUMOR!

MC: Is that the Criswell to Western Rumor??? btw did you get the pm I sent you on the cat board??

Criswell is not a point guard. If Lynch leaves, Martin and Matthews are our remaining point guards. Also, Austin Swift can play point although I imagine Krysko would like to redshirt him.

I am not sure, what is your handle on Bobcatnation.

I heard "talk" here in Missoula before the NCAA tourney. I do not know how much of truth there was to it. It seemed a little out there. The orginal post in this thread made me think of the rumor. I should have kept my mouth shut.

MC: No Problem...I enjoy your insight even if you are a Cat...I am Hellgate (1971) grad so we do have something in common...my handle on your board is info197176..i.e. h.s and college grad dates...I guess I could add 1981 for my Masters but I thought that was too much "info".

I talked to someone close to the situation, and was told that Lamarr Farr is going to transfer. This person would know. So that would open up a ride.

If Lamarr was to leave (and I would be sorry to see that happen), it would mean Matthews would have to see more time at the 2 or 3 positions. That could explain the GRIZ looking at a point guard or a guard that could play the point and shooting guard position.

OK. There are a couple of players leaving. That is known for sure and rumors are starting to pop up, so might as well confirm that one. I'm going to let Krysko announce who they are when he feels the time is necessary.

I would rather focus on the new players coming in.

I checked out the All-Region IX team (Nebraska JC region) and there are two guards from Nebraska JC's on that team. Hopefully its one of these two players.

Travis Hall from Western Nebraska: 5'10" SO from Baton Rouge, LA. Averaged 14.3 pts/game, 4.39 ast/game, 2.48 stl/game and had an assist/turnover ratio of over 2.

Scott Williams from North Platte: 6'2" SO from Macon, GA. Averaged 19.6 pts/game, 5.9 reb/game and over 2 ast/game. He was the runner-up for the Region IX player of the year.

Hopefully we will know more about the recruit in the next couple of days.

So I had Western Nebraska right, but it's not Travis Hall.

Rashaun Broadus is the recruit from JC power Western Nebraska. This school also produced Bobby Jackson who went on to Minnesota and now plays for the Sacramento Kings. Western Nebraska was ranked #1 or #2 for most of the season, winning their first 24 games before finishing with a 28-5 record and ending up ranked 14th in the nation.

Broadus is a 6'0" SO from Mililani, HI. He averaged 14.6 pts/g, 4.21 reb/g, 3.52 ast/g, 1.70 stl/g and had an assist/turnover ratio of almost 2. He shot 47.8% from the field including 39.9% from outside. He recorded season highs of 31 points, 9 boards and 7 assists. It looks like the reason Hall made the all-region team over Broadus was because Hall had 28 and 20 point outbursts in their Region IX tourney games. Broadus played more than Hall and sounds like he was the team leader, according to this article:

Both Davis and Farr came from Region IX JC teams. Hopefully we can pick up another one..
