Can he coach as well?
5. Will Cherry, McClymonds
12 points for this 6-foot-1 Montana-bound senior guard in a winning performance. It seemed like each of his buckets was a crowd-pleaser, though. He is lightning-quick, as no one on Monte Vista could stay with him. Two people on McClymonds took more shots than Cherry, who finished 5 of 9 from the field. In order for McClymonds to win again next week, I think that Cherry has to take the most shots out of anybody on the team. Cherry seems to be the team leader on the court. Damon Powell seems to be the emotional leader, but Cherry seems a bit more rational and under control. Another very significant stat is that he committed zero turnovers against a very disciplined Monte Vista defense.
I watched this kid tonight on TV down in LA...he is a real time player....they won the California Div 1 championship against a legendary outfit down here...Dominguez High....and it was not close....Cherry was probably the 3rd best player in this game, and that is saying something! The announcers were impressed as well......if he actually shows up in Missoula, mens basket ball is going to have a revival...this kid is good......very good.....citygriz said:http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?&o=0&f=/c/a/2009/03/11/SPDT16CEKO.DTL

citygriz said:if nothing else, he's already brought us a ton of publicity. you don't ever see his name in the paper without "montana-bound" attached to it, and we'll be mentioned another dozen times on tv saturday during the state high school championship game.
The game last night, played in Sacto was the Div 1 championship....and, you are right, Montana was mentioned in connection with Cherry....the real star here is on his way to San Diego! Apparently, academics are highly valued these days in Oakland...the "Obama effect" as a friend calls it......citygriz said:if nothing else, he's already brought us a ton of publicity. you don't ever see his name in the paper without "montana-bound" attached to it, and we'll be mentioned another dozen times on tv saturday during the state high school championship game.

I hope the California GRIZ fans can help me out here. Are the CA State Tournament basketball games on any regional sports networks? I would love to watch Cherry play, if all possible. Thanks
