406Sports reports:
Monte is listed at 5-foot-6 and 165 pounds. On Hudl, he notes his 40-yard dash time as 4.37 seconds and his 100-meter dash time as 10.74 seconds. In addition to the speed, he lists a vertical jump of 40 inches. In terms of strength, he notes he has a bench of 265 pounds, a squat of 405 pounds, a deadlift of 415 pounds and a clean of 245 pounds.

For his size, it probably is difficult to compare strength numbers, but, for those of you in the know, how do his dash times compare?

4.37 is incredibly fast. His strength numbers are huge for someone this size. I think Tuff Harris set the now-broken state all class at 10.77. I have talked to Monte. He's small but didn't see that small. I see that Genome/45 ran a 10.87. I assume Monte will have spring track to run faster.

Vince Genatone actually ran a 10.50, and later finished third at state. And he's a linebacker!

From his bio on the Griz roster: "Ran a 10.87 in the 100M on the track." https://gogriz.com/sports/football/roster/vincent-genatone/6780

Troy Anderson is a linebacker too.

Do you think he doesn't know how fast he's run?

Why must you always be a prick? Crunch is one of the best, most respected posters on the board.

Took the 10.50 right from his track bio on athletic.net (see the link I posted). Maybe Omaha, com isn't right, and someone just took that number and ran with it for the bio.

Actually, upon rereading the omaha.com wording, it says he ran a 10.87 'last year' (I.e., his junior year), so maybe omaha.com wasn’t wrong after all, just that it didn't include his senior year in track.

Do you think 45 and his family have never looked at his bio? He’s been at UM 2 seasons.

School was out by June 10. No one would use the prior year.

From his UM bio, it says he ran 10.87. I will stick with his bio. You can use what you want and I don’t doubt your research. Why don’t you talk to UM sports info to correct?

It’s being a prick to cite his UM bio?

No, you were being a prick in the way in which you did so. But I suspect you knew that.

Look in the mirror. Nothing prickish was said. Not even close. Feel free to look at my post and explain what is prickish.

I guess my point it this -- Do the players write the bios, or does someone from UM sports information? If it's the sports info office (which I suspect--they're too uniform in style to be written by individual players), maybe they relied on the omaha.com article without actually checking his track meet times directly.

And I doubt the players are terribly concerned about what gogriz says on their bio about what their 100 time was.

Oh, yeah, I buried the lede--here's a link to the Nebraska state high school activities track and field page for the 2022 state championship results, in which Vince ran a 10.63 to finish 3rd, just as I said above. He ran the 10.50 at districts, as noted in the Athletic.net track page for Vince cited above (probably the week before).

Convinced yet?

And my bigger point was this...probably the fastest player on the team (for 100 meters, anyway) is a linebacker. Which is pretty amazing.

And after watching a video or two of him running track (I watched them a couple of years ago, when he was just being signed), he didn't look lightning fast in the first 40 meters, but he came on like a freight train in the back half--kinda scary, to be honest. He's that kind of fast--beast mode.

Oops, I missed another clear indicator of Vince's best time.

On the Nebraska high school activities track results page for the 2022 state championships that I cited above, in the top section it clearly states that Vince has a seed time (for seeding into the preliminaries, apparently) of 10.50 -- his districts time, as noted on the Athletic.net site.

Kids and their parents look at stuff like that frequently. Did you or your kids play college sports. I told you previously that I was fine with your research. Did you not read that? Do you not understand these words of mine? " I don’t doubt your research." You don't have to convince me; you need to convince gogriz.com and the Univ. of MT.

Why are you mucking up this thread on Gillman's brother? Let us know when 45 runs a 4.37 40.

"Best and most respected"? Is that a joke? I don't recall any best posts that he has ever made. Let's see some.

Oh, well… Anyway, welcome to the Griz family, Monte! Happy to see you on the team, and hope you become the fastest Griz player in the hundred in your senior track season!
