24 teams make the playoffs, 26 teams have better criteria than montana, and 5 teams are even or barely better.
Automatic Qualifiers:
1. Eastern Washington*
2. North Dakota*
3. Charleston Southern*
4. James Madison *
5. Coastal Carolina *
6. North Carolina A&T *
7. South Dakota State *
8. St. Francis *
9. Jacksonville State *
10. Lehigh *
11. San Diego
12. Citadel*
13. Sam Houston State*
14. Grambling State*

At Large teams:
15. Southern University (7-3) Playing for conference title this week
16. Central Arkansas (9-2)* Playing for conference title this week
17. Chatttanoga (9-2)*
18. Dayton (10-2)
19. North Dakota State (10-1)*
20. North Carolina Central (8-3)
21. Richmond (9-2)*
22. Cal Poly (7-4) *
23. Villinanova (8-3)*
24. Youngstown State (8-3)*
25. Samford (8-3)*
26. Wofford (8-3)*

Teams Maybe better than Montana:
Fordham (8-3)
Kennesaw State (8-3)
Western Illinois (7-4)
Duquense (8-3)
Liberty (6-5) will tie for a share of the Big South Conference Title

*= Higher Rank than Montana
Three games that will help Montana's chances of making the playoffs:
1. Kennesaw State vs. Charleston Southern: need Charleston Southern to win
2. Southern University vs. Grambling State: need Grambling State to win
3. North Carolina Central vs. North Carolina A&T: need N.C. A&T to win

Kennesaw State is definitely not better than Montana and in my opinion shouldn't even be considered for playoffs. Look at their schedule. Some teams play in considerably weak conferences and when compared to Montana, actually do not have as good as resume. The SWAC doesn't participate in the playoffs so no southern university or Grambling.

Win a Montana win this weekend, looking at the weekends schedule of games... considering 24 teams make the playoffs, looking at what the current polls say, I think it is looking more likely the Griz make the playoffs if they can beat Montana State on Saturday. Still leaving it in the hands of the committee but it more and more likely when you consider the criteria and cross compare.

There are only 10 automatic qualifiers and the MEAC and SWAC champion do not participate

Yeah, since Kennesaw State is still brand new to FCS, they played three non-DI games (Point University, Missouri S&T, and Clark Atlanta) to fill their schedule. I will be really surprised if they are part of the playoff conversation.

Here is the Missoulian article: http://missoulian.com/sports/college/montana/griz-playoff-chances-only-injured-not-dead-yet/article_fa670ffd-7a1e-59ea-b2bb-edd7dce0769c.html

However, if you look at the teams in consideration, Griz stack up very well. Chance at the playoffs with a win over MSU are way better than what the article makes it sound like.
