Montana Wins?????!!!!!!!!!

Wayne Tinkle for President and Athletic Director, think of the money the Athletic department would save? WOW that would sure kill two birds with one stone......

Congrats Griz.

And Way to Go Wayne, you executed Pat Kennedy's game plan quite well. That is what Assistant coaches are supposed to do.

Why? The GRIZ executed Coach K's game plan and won. The players and coaches deserve credit for a great victory. Wayne obvioulsy did a fine job of coaching from the bench. The contributions of the younger players were essential. Lynch ignited the GRIZ in the second half with 6 quick points. The other freshman, Dlouhy also played very well and fit in well with the smaller, quicker line up and the more pressure oriented defense. Did you listen to Coach Tinkle after the game (on Omega TV)? He gave much of the credit to Coach K. and specifically mentioned Coach K sticking up for the players when he got tossed from the last game. I am not suggesting that this one game makes the entire season a success. But at least we still have a shot at the tournement and the kids got a badly needed morale and confidence boost.

Wow, Grizwhiz, we posted about the same time and the first sentences are quite close to saying the samething, almost word for word.

This is huge for the Griz. What a confidence builder indeed! I was very impressed with Easley and Dlouhy. The Griz played very good defense but the offense....I can't figure it out. They'll go down the floor one time, and execute with lots of movement. Then, the next time they'll go down and watch the player with the ball waiting to see what happens. Not that I care if they win. :D Tinkle did a great job but I don't think there should be any debate over Kennedy.

I do have one question. Why they don't set more picks for Criswell to get him open?

58-55 over Weber at Ogden, is a nice win. Lets play out the rest of the season before we make any premature, bold predictions.

Go Griz!

I do not think anybody is making bold predictions. But this win is a good start for the rest of the season.

The Griz are 1.5 games away from 6th place. Will need to win at least 2 games of the 4 remaining to make the tournament, possibly will need to win 3, including beating Sac State.

The Conference standings as of now are:

EWU 9 - 1 -
NAU 5 - 4 3.5
ISU 5 - 4 3.5
MSU 5 - 5 4
SAC 4 - 5 4.5
PSU 4 - 6 5
WSU 3 - 6 5.5
UM 3 - 7 6

PSU swept Griz so hold a tie breaker. Griz are technically 2 games back of them. Sac St will need to lose one other game along with losing to the Griz. Sac St did beat PSU, but UM beat EWU so Griz should hold a tie breaker over Sac State if they tie (assuming Griz beat Sac).

MSU lost both times to EWU so if Griz beat MSU, Griz should have a tie break over MSU if these two schools end up in a tie.

It was great for the guys to get another win, especially against a team that pretty much dominated them in Missoula. With the wins over EWU and ISU the Griz have wins over 2 of the top 3 teams in the conference, and still play NAU at home. To me this win pretty much reinforces the feeling I had at the beginning of the season that this team has the ability to beat every team in the conference.

The thing I was happiest about is that the team changed how they were playing - the aggressive defense, going with 3 guards, giving the younger guys more time - it showed Kennedy can change his game plan to match his talent and the opposition. Also, I think Tinkle mentioned in the post-game interview that it was Marso's idea to change up the defense, and Kennedy let them do it (I may not have heard him exactly right on this point). To me this is a huge positive for the team.

It sure was fun watching and listening to Tinkle on the post-game. He was like a little kid he was so excited, but also very decent in deflecting credit for the win to the team and to Kennedy.

Finally I want to say how impressed I am with the people posting on E-Griz about this win. I was thinking when I came to the board today that it would be full of anti-Kennedy trash, but the number of positive Kennedy posts here has been refreshing.

Good win by both MSU and UM. Did Griz enact a new pre game pump up celebration routine again in order to get the win? Seems like someone mentioned that back when they got their last win. You can never underestimate those pre-game pump up celebration routines for bringing in the W's :)

I like the way UM matches up against ISU. Poole is the key for ISU, and both Criswell and Mansell can shut him down. Just look at the first half from the game in Missoula. A decent showing (under 15 TO's) should get a win in Pocatello.

With 4 home games to close the season (3 conference), 5 or 6 big sky wins should be a good possibility. Just look at Sac St last year, you never know when a team having a tough season will make a run at the end of the year.

If EWU ends up 13-1, I think the Griz will only need 5 wins to make the playoffs, since they'll hold a tiebreaker over anybody they split with.

There are 4 conference games remaining (including tonights). Griz only need to win 2 conference games minimum to make the BSC Tournament.

The Griz need to beat Sac St, and Sac St. to lose one other game. That game against UGF is a waste and is basically meaningless in getting the Griz in the tournament. There are other possibilities where Griz win just two games and gets into the tournament, but Sac St is the easiest to catch. PSU holds a tie breaker over Griz, so Griz do not want to end up in a tie with PSU. Head to Head comes first in determining tie break.

But, if the Griz win 3 conference games, I would likely bet that Griz will be in the tournament, and win all the rest of the conference games, Griz will be in the tournament.

EWU just needs to win two games, possibly just one, to clinch Big Sky Regular season.

I honestly feel that Weber showed no respect for the Griz and were looking ahead. I don't think they will sneak up on Id. St. This might be a truer test of the Griz resolve as they beat Id. St soundly already. If they beat Id. St. the door will be slightly ajar for a run at a tournament spot. I am holding my breath.
