NAU got screwed. The logical Griz fans see that. The myopic homers don't
Yes, screwed out of being sent to Fargo

Fair points, but only part of full picture. How do you explain these things?

1.-- For the 6 common opponents overall the Lumberjacks we're 5-1 vs them, and outscored them 154-140

-- For the 6 common opponents overall the Griz we're 6-0 vs them, and outscored those teams 228-127

2. In the ncaa's SRS, UM is rated 8th, and NAU is rated 11th. The SRS is a stated criteria of the FCS playoff selection process this year. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs/fcs-srs-poll" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

3. In the Sagarin, UM is rated 96th, and NAU is rated 131st. There are 31 FCS teams between UM and NAU in the Sagarin.

4. In the GPI, UM is ranked ahead of NAU. Don't know if this week's is out yet, but last week UM was 8th and NAU was 16th .

5. In the Sports Network poll, UM is ranked 4th, and NAU is ranked 8th.

Do you think NAU would have beaten EWU had they played this year?

They would kill Bauman just like they kill Zenner. Every. Single. Time.

At least they have a shot with EWU.

Yep. They'll get their shot to prove it.

In 2011, I recall that UNI was ADAMANT that they should have been the 4 seed and the Griz the 5. Likewise, they had a chance to prove it. Hmmm, didn't work out so good for 'em.

Wasn't Central Arkansas also claiming they should have been put ahead of the Griz? How many other teams claim that they are so much better, but fail to prove it on the field?

The point is you need to look at the entire picture. You could also add what would happen if all teams in the Big Sky played? No way NAU beats EWU, and no way UM loses to SUU.

Meh. Costal Carolina claims they should have been seeded ahead of Montana too. All there is to say is "prove us wrong." NAU has done nothing in FCS playoffs to hang their hat on. Prove us wrong.

Point is ... there is no "us." We (not the Griz fans, coaches, admin, whatever) had anything to do with the seeds -- although the team did compile season-long stats that did influence (presumably) the decision. As has been pointed out on any number of threads/posts, the NCAA committee -- which had a Big Sky, but not a UM, rep -- decided who would get bids, and what their seeds would be. So the proper phrase is: "prove them wrong."

...take nau out of their dome...
...and they are average at best...
...they got what they deserved...
...and they were lucky get that...

... 8-) ...

Big Sky teams NAU played: 6-18 in conference and 12-14 overall.
Big Sky teams that the Griz played were 12-12 in conference and 18-18 overall.

The 6 common opponents they shared:
NAU went 5-1 and out scored those opponents 154-140.
The Griz went 6-0 against those same opponents and out scored them 228-127.

Heads up is not the only factor.
Get over it...or not ....I don't really care :thumb:

Montana played 12 games, including EWU. If NAU had played a 12th game and that opponent had been EWU would we be having this discussion?

I said it on AGS ill say it here, these arent bowl games, its a playoff. If you want to prove the committee/fans/people wrong go out there and win the thing. NAU may have beef, but it doesnt fall on US to justify the decisions of others.

You can argue all day long but say they put nau at 8 seed where would they have put the Griz since you cant play a conf team in first or second rd if you played em in regular season

This thread may develop some credibility if NAU beats SDSU. If they don't, just more wasted pixels.

Oh, the humanity!

I assume these #'s don't include each OTHER'S records....

The way I originally worded it was:

-- Big Sky schools NAU played that we didn't were Southern Utah, Idaho State, Northern Colorado. These teams were combined 6-18 conference, 12-14 overall.

-- Big Sky schools UM played that NAU didn't were Eastern Washington, Portland State, Weber State. These teams were a combined 12-12 conference, 18-18 overall.

So yeah, you wouldn't add game against each other. If we had flipped and played the 3 that they did, and they had played the 3 we did, this is all a moot point.
