Montana v. NDSU on ESPN 2014

sounds like this hinges on Haslam agreeing and on whether or not ESPN wants it. I don't think the NCAA will stand in the way. BUT, If I were Haslam, I would make sure ESPN will come to Missoula the next fall or make it a no go.

Side notes: South Dakota is the the third game of the season and the home opener. A DII is set for the following week. Either Central Washington or Western Oregon.

Also, I may be alone in my thoughts on this, but I don't think the UW game will ever happen. The breakaway will have happened by then, or at the very least, the Big 5 will all not be playing FCS schools by then.

Apparently ESPN is petitioning NCAA for waiver to start college football early and broadcast this game!!

So apparently they want to move the date from 9/6 back to 8/23. Either way our opening two games in 2014 will be on the road against Wyoming and NDSU or vice versa if this happens. Anybody have any insight into what two home games we might be picking up to fill the schedule???? Below is the schedule as I know it right now, the conference schedule is pulled from the Big Sky 3 year schedule that they annouced this summer.

8/30/14 @Wyoming
9/6/14 @NDSU
9/13/14 Open
9/20/14 Open
9/27/14 Northern Colorado
10/4/14 @North Dakota
10/11/14 Open
10/18/14 UC Davis
10/25/14 @ Cal Poly
11/1/14 Sac. State
11/8/14 @ Eastern Wash
11/15/14 @ Southern Utah
11/22/14 Montana State

It's OPSU twice. They will bus up, spend the week at the KOA, and then bus back home directly after the second match up. Poor bastards.

I started working on convincing my wife we need to attend this game. I figure I can wear her down in the next seven months.

I can see it now...
"Hey honey you've always wanted to go to Fargo. I thought I'd make that dream come true."

First Off this game would be a GREAT Showcase of the 2 newest Mountain West members!

Secondly, if ESPN wants this game, NCAA will make it happen and so will the Montana AD. You'd be foolish to turn it down, you wont and it will be Epic. Only problem with aug 23 is most NDSU people will be in lakes country, but pretty sure its already sold out.

Bison, do you think that NDSU will be willing to return the favor in 2015 if Montana wants to do the same thing? And does anyone know if playing on Aug. 23 will mean the NCAA will allow UM and NDSU to move up the opening date of training camp?

Well Yes, Havgriz. the problem with that is ESPN might not want that.

Yes NCAA would allow moving up the opening date of training camp.

NDSU has Iowa on Aug 31, 2015 though.

You can only hope.
If she's in the market for a green & gold t-shirt chances are she would be in heaven there.

Updated 2014 Griz Schedule

8/30/14 @ Wyoming
9/6/14 @ NDSU (Might move to 8/23/14)
9/13/14 South Dakota
9/20/14 Open
9/27/14 Northern Colorado
10/4/14 @ North Dakota
10/11/14 Open
10/18/14 UC Davis
10/25/14 @ Cal Poly
11/1/14 Sac. State
11/8/14 @ Eastern Wash
11/15/14 @ Southern Utah
11/22/14 Montana State

3rd straight year to Grand Forks....

Good point, that seems odd. As for a home game on 9/20 how about South Dakota State or I'll make my pitch again for an Ivy league game, Harvard is sitting just outside the top 25. Heck Yale played UC Davis this year. Otherwise the home schedule seems like kind of a yawner other than Griz/sCat.

You last 2 posters are missing the point..... this can be happening in 2 weeks

Exactly! Furthermore we can do without the Oklahoma Panhandles and Monmouths next season.

That whole Okla. Panhandle deal baffled me.
