Montana State quarterback McKay into the portal

I am hearing that coach ve6an has completely lost the locker room. Nobody respects him. What little credibility he had with the team has evaporated.

In fact, Bubs just wish the QB could have stuck around a couple more days and quit with everyone else on Sunday when they turn in their gear.

It sounds horrible. Reminds me of Stitt’s first year. Started great and even made the playoffs, but man-o-man was it downhill from there and took years to correct. Would have been better off in the long run not making the playoffs

Not true.
So true. Every line of it.

And obviously true as you cannot even muster an attempt to dispute any of it. Your silence speaks volumes.

It all starts with the offensive game plan and the offensive line. I mean Ifanse only had something like 50 yards on the ground. To send out that OC and have him give probably the worst press conference known to man basically throwing McKay under the bus is a mistake on Vigen’s part. By the way the last I saw msu was 7-1 in conference play and 9-2 over all. Pretty darn good! I hate to say but no QB in the league would have had a lot of success against the way Montana’s defense played on Nov.20th. If your going to play the blame game blame Vigen, the OC, and the offensive line coach not the players. This whole thing might sink the ship in Bozeman. Their lucky to have a good defense.

Go Griz!

I am not going to get into what I know on a public message board.. I might not be a full time journalist, but I still am one some times... Nothing you said in your post is accurate. Vigen has not "lost the locker room" or any players. What happened is a sad situation that everyone in the organization is aware of. Will there be discussions about what happened? Yes....

Not the situation the Cats want to be in going into playoff game tomorrow.

You are certainly entitled to your opinions. Where have you heard Cat head coach has lost locker room and has no respect? Sources?

"OC Housefire detailing how the kid lost confidence and they lost confidence in him probably didn’t help. OC threw the kid under the bus in his first press conference ever, and did it so nonchalantly he didn’t even wear one stitch of Bubcat apparel. Guy looked baked.

"Ol Coach" Hal Sherbeck, "It is never the fault of the kid, it is always my fault for not coaching him."
WOW!! Haven't heard that name is while. My oldest bother played for Hal at Missoula County High School back in the mid-50's, and his son, my nephew, played for Hal at Fullerton JC back in the late 70's. He was indeed a coach's coach, and superb example of a human being. Old school for sure, but DAMN GOOD SCHOOL, IMHO.

Gonna make some Frontier Conference team think they have a chance!
Dupuyer makes a good point, really bad move, team wise. Looks like he don't think much of the team. Methinks the scats are falling apart

I feel for the guy. Imagine being on a football team with no quarterback, and being told by somebody named Housewright that you won’t be starting at quarterback.

I don't care how excited the cats are for Tommy (and he is a good one) it is not a good thing to be losing your QB going into the playoffs. Tommy is a different type of QB and you can't change your offense in two weeks to fit his style. The other option is to go to the kid that led you to the semis but was deemed not good enough to start this year. Lots of confusion going on surrounding the offense and were kids stand with the coaches I would guess.
Good news super easy opponent so they get another week to figure it out.

Hopefully, the kitties won't think like that and take them lightly.

UT martin is a team that has won 10 games. Yes, I know it's in the Ohio Valley, but wins are wins. Then they went into Missouri State (a pretty good MVFC team) and won ... close, but all it takes is that one point.

MSU made the move to another QB immediately after the game in Missoula. I was told by someone with very strong ties to the organization that that player has received 100% of the 1st team snaps since then.

Not an ideal situation, but they will have two weeks' preparation for the change - not two days.

Good luck tonight.

Coach was a golfing buddy of mine when he moved to Polson and after all Griz home games would stop for dinner at our house to discuss any and everything.
Early in Bobby's career as HC he did the same thing to some of our players, I mentioned it to Coach and that's where this quote came from. A favorite of mine all time.

Brand spanking new here and full transparency - I have a son on the team. After speaking with some MSU player's fathers, McKay's leaving was not like everyone thinks. It was a pretty civil decision and Vigen has not lost the locker room. I think the player parents would like to see more energy in the locker room, but that is not coming from the players themselves. That is a carryover from Choate and it is tanking some time to adjust how Vigen motivates the players now. Hope that helps clear some of this up.

There have been multiple QBs now who transferred out of that mud-blown hell hole after The Grizzlies crushed their love for the game and broke their will to be a Bubcat.

This is at least the third time in recent history!!

No wonder it’s a QB wasteland.

MSC: where mediocre QBs go to die.

Thanks so much for the reply and story. Loved hearing it. I also think that is a tremendous quote, and again, IMHO, not only a lot of coaches, but a lot of parents might do well to take it to heart.

Ironically, not enough vim ;)

Who are the three on that recent history list?

So, a locker room issue. Gotcha.

Yes you’re right. There are probably way more than just three. Glad you cats lurk and keep us honest.
Also, while you’re at it, can you please help us name the dozen or so transfer QBs who transferred to MSC and ultimately sucked ass? One guy was named “Kerplumpft”, one was “Goodriddance”, and I think there was a “Jonestone” and “Rolobitch”? Has there ever been a good one?
