Montana State @ Idaho in 2016

The cats could win like 30 straight in the series with Montana and still would be in the hole. It's fucking amazing that you guys still talk shit. Tell you what, let's start fresh. As of 2013 for instance (what have you done for me lately, right?). Griz undefeated.

It reminds me of how my little brother would say he was going to beat me at H-O-R-S-E in the driveway. He would pull it off once or twice when I was sick or something, and therefore think that he was at the same level. Inevitably, when I was at full speed and beat him down, he would cry and go back in the house acting like he didn't care in the first place. It's pretty much a perfect comparison.

I'm looking for flaws in your analogy.

still looking.

I see they're open to playing teams from Montana again. :coffee:
Always have; just not able to pay FCS teams big to come to Moscow. MSU will probably lose a little cash relative to a home D-2; UM would lose big.

This is stupid and you know it. Look at the records from the time the two schools have been in = divisions. Oh, that wouldn't feed your ego as much, i get it.

You cat fans have absolutely mastered this defense mechanism. It’s almost like they teach a course on this in Bozeman.

I find it ironic that cat fans criticize griz fans for citing historical records, and then in the same breath you strategically breakdown certain timelines to make the “rivalry” look more equal than it actually is.

Kind of hypocritical don’t you think?

Even THAT record is 31-22 in favor of the Griz.

The only stretch where you appear even remotely competitive is being 5-7 in the last 12. Of course, you're also 5-23 in the last 28.

...and 2-6 in the last 8. Changing of the guard as it were.

I was up at Canyon Ferry recently, and our hosts (Cat fans) were talking about how the Cats had become the dominant program in the last couple years. I was flabbergasted because this wasn't smack; they truly thought that's how things were. Still blows my mind.

I suspect that MSU, the Griz, or any other BSC team will never host the Vandals considering that the high and mighty Sun Belt Conference, like most every other FBS conference, is probably dain to permit any of its members to lower itself by playing on motley FCS turf.

The Kibbie Silo reigns supreme!

Not dominant, just better. Yes, you won Cat\Griz last year, good job. Does that mean that you're now automatically back to dominating us again like you did during "The Streak"? No, of course not. We've been pretty equal over the past few years actually, although we've won a lot more Big Sky Titles lately. And don't give me the "Ya, but you can't do shit in the playoffs" story because obviously you can't either if we're just looking at last year. Face it, it is annoying on both sides. The Cat fans that think we are the dominant team now, and the griz fans that think you're still dominating the Cats. Neither are true right now.

Let's throw some numbers out there, because we like to throw them out there! :thumb:

Since 1973 when MSU decided to put their big boy pants on and play in the same division as UM:

Record: UM Leads MSU 26-15
Scores: UM has outscored MSU 1096 points to 790 points.

Number of games won by 10+:
Montana: 21 games
Montana State: 9 games

Longest Winning Streak:
Montana: 16 (1987-2001) :thumb:
Montana State: 5 (1973-1977)

Again, blows my mind.

Can you imagine if the Griz lost to the Cats at home (while #1) by a score of 10-36. Or lost playoff games by 30+? Or lost to EWU by 30+? We would NEVER hear the end of it. Any talk of being better would get us laughed out of the room.

I am always amused at the cats saying how many conference championships they have won as of late. The fact is they were co champions. They will get my respect when they can claim to be sole champions of the BSC. I believe the last time they did that was way back in 1984.
The cats are also boastful of being able to slide by the Griz in two of the last four games but they do not take into account the Griz were without the starting QB in either of those games.
I know for sure that I would not be out boasting how my team was the new dominant team in Montana right after they dumped their last three games of last season.

You actually see this allot in Montana. There are allot of Cat fans in somewhat rural areas that really don’t follow the rivalry that closely, but somehow are always up for the argument.

I was up in Choteau for golf tournament last month and had a similar discussion with a group of genius cat fans. One guy, decked out in cat gear, actually said “we’ll, we have won 4 or the last 5”. He was dead serious. No shit, he literally had no idea who won last year. This guy loves the cats, and actually has two kids going to school there.

It is surreal sometimes.

In the worst period of Griz football in 25 years, the Griz STILL have as many playoff victories ass the 'scats in their BEST period in 25 years.

'scats better? Nope.
