Something tells me there will be a lot of 2012 Bobcat football fans at this shindig.

The same year they became Seahawks fans too right?

Honest question....How long do you have to be a fan of a team before you are no longer a "Bandwagon" fan. I don't really have a dog in this fight (I have been a Detroit Lions fan for as long as I can remember crying). My 9 year old son is a Seahawks fan, is he a "Bandwagon" fan because he has only liked them for about 5 years? Is it 10,20,30 years before you are a true "Fan"? Do you have to have liked the team when they sucked to truly be a fan? I never understood this.

And just so you can all live in the HELL that is my sports life...Here are my teams

Bobcats
Royals
Lions
Coyotes (NHL)
Kings (NBA)
Michigan Wolverines

Kind of hard to label kids bandwagon fans, IMO. Growing up in the 80's I was a 49ers fan for obvious reasons, which my Sconnie family loved I'm sure. But as my dad followed the Packers I started to do the same and naturally have been a Pack fan ever since.

I'm big on loyalty, through the thick and thin. When I see people that were Patriots fans 15 years, Steeler fans 10 years ago, and now are Seahawks fans... those just bug me for some reason.

And for me with favorite teams it's

Griz - duh
Packers - since... early 90's... I remember the transition from Don Majkowski to Favre, I wasn't even a teenager yet.
Badgers - Wisconsin ties, been that way my whole life
Mariners... the only baseball team I could watch every night after the strike in the mid-90's, on Northwest sports

That's it, I don't have a favorite NHL or NBA team, I like to watch certain players but don't really follow either too much.

I have a family member that is a lot like that. A famous Basketball coach use to hunt on his land every year, and so he liked that team (like everything he wore was that team). The coach has been to 2-3 different schools since then, and he changes every time. Now that coach is gone, and he is a huge ND fan because of his son-in-law....Always bugged me growing up

Bandwagon fan, My definition - Wasn't a fan of any team, and started liking a certain team only when they started winning. Or a fan who's allegiances change with who is winning. Fans who make an effort to watch their team as long as they are winning, but turn the TV, or don't go see them when they aren't. If you liked a team when they sucked, and still like them now, you probably aren't a bandwagon fan.

And seriously!!!! I feel sorry for you. Congrats on the Royals though. At least you have that going for you.

Your last sentence its the nail on the head. As a proud Seahawks fan since the late 90's (born in 87, didn't start watching football till around then) I have been through many 4-12 seasons, the punch line of many jokes, etc. I am enjoying the heck out of this latest run as I know it wont last forever and they will have a losing season at some point in the near future (as is the case with every team in professional sports).

Ha ha, I imagine this is the reason most people here don't like the Seahawks and take it out on Hawk Fans. I like this picture better, though. Remember this one? It cost Dennis Erickson his job and the Seahawks a playoff spot, But it did lead to instant replay. If if we reeallly want to talk about blown calls we can just post the entire 2006 Super Bowl.

Royals finally came through. My wife's family was raised about 4 miles from the Royals/Chiefs stadiums. I never really followed Baseball that much until about 2000 when I visited them in KC. I got a "VIP Tour" of the Royals stadium, and the Swag bag had the following in it.

1) A Program from a game in 1997
2) A bobble-head of a player that hadn't played in two years
3) A KC shirt (size small)
4) A baseball "Used in batting practice"

Things sure have changed, but most of my friends still call me a "Bandwagon fan" for them.

Atlanta Braves since 1976
Arizona Cardinals since 1990 they were originally the Phoenix Cardinals after they moved from St Louis. (And this is only if I am forced to pick an NFL team....I hate the NFL)
Phoenix Suns since 1980 Celtics fan when Bird played.
Edmonton Oilers since 1980
Griz since 1978

There were never 50 Seahawk fans in Montana until 4 years ago........that's the problem.
You need to climb out of your hole, we have had huge Seahawk parties for four years. We had to rent a place to hold all the Seahawk fans for their first Super Bowl and that was in Polson. There were about 2 Steeler fans at that party, the rest were Seahawk.

FIFY
I am always relieved when I have an opinion contrary to just about everything you post because you are a severely fact challenged person. But at least you are consistent. Go Griz and Hawks.
I am extremely cool with that as well since you are rarely ever right. Enjoy the Hawks until they suck again.... then break out the Bronco or Viking attire......

I am actually rooting for anyone but the Cardinals to win the Superbowl this year, I hate when people treat me like Seahawk fans.............

Why would you want to start a seahawks bar...as soon as they go back to medicre play all their fans will disappear just as quickly as they all showed up about 4 years ago....that franchises fan base iis a joke!
You are just mad because nobody likes "America's team" anymore. As far as the Seahawk "bandwagon" fans, I had this exact conversation with an idiot from Spokane a few weeks ago. Even though he was from Spokane he hated the Seahawks and Seahawk fans, said Seattle never had a fan base until thy won the Superbowl. I asked him if he knew Seattle had the 2nd largest waiting list for season tickets, and 2nd longest sellout streak (after Denver) in the NFL from their inception until Ken Berhing moved the team to LA, despite never going to the Superbowl and only 1 AFC Championship appearance? He didn't of course. He also didn't know the Seahawks (briefly) moved to LA when the Rams and Raiders left. that followed a 1/2 decade in which Behring systematically tried to destroy the Seahawks to reduce fan support so he could move the team to California (Dan McGwire as a first round QB?). He also didn't know that the Seahawks have sold out every game since the 2nd week of 2003, well before they ever played in a Superbowl.

BTW, the dolt was a Packer fan. Why? because when he was growing up the Seahawks were not on TV and packers were and they won and he liked Brett Farve. Yes, a textbook bandwagon fan calling the diehards that stuck through a franchise move, a team bankruptcy, and a stadium that fell apart bandwagon fans. Classic. Like almost every Cowboy fan.

   Very nice Grizbeer!!! Hope we'll see you at Jakers on Sunday.

Good story Grizbeer. I hear that bandwagon comment all the time and I don't really get how it started. I have followed the Seahawks since 79 and attended my first playoff game in Miami in early 80s. I recall being around a lot of Seahawks fans in those early years. As for good Seahawk bar, Swanee's is not bad in Polson-vast majority of fans are Seahawk and the food is great for reasonable price. I will be in Orange County sometime tomorrow. Anyone know of Seahawks bars down there? Weird it will be on at 10am.

  Very true NativeGriz. If you're interested in supporting further efforts hetfor formal Seahawks gatherings drop a note to the e-mail listed in the original message. Yes there are many LONG time Seahawk fans. All the "BW" :shit: is just that.
