Great Day To Be An Eagle said:
This is a joke.
Having this many televised games is a HUGE recruiting advantage for UM and MSU.
I can pretty much guarantee that the collective Big Sky coaches (minus MSU's coach and UofM's interim coach) will be contacting Big Sky officials to cry foul on this. And I don't blame them.
I guess you could say that this isn't a great day to be an eagle?
If I were a fan of another team, not in Montana, I too would be pissed. Thank God, I am not though. Loyalty aside, maybe this is a good reason for rest the conference fan bases to get the hell behind their respected teams, and show the hell up for games!!!!! No offense, to the fans that already show up. Unfortunately, every program outside of Montana, does not, or will not, support their programs.
Seriously, most games not involving one of the Montana teams, are a joke to watch on tv. Why? Because attendance looks like a high school game. What kind of an impression does that leave for those paying the conference to broadcast the games? I am actually surprised a few more games are not broadcast from Missoula and Bozeman.
I doubt this deal would have happened for the conference, if not for the Montana schools fan support.
I do hope fans of other programs step it up, a lot. Whenever that time is, that the Montana schools join another conference, what will the conference do, then?
Then again, it is likely the have nots of the current BCS, will be joining forces with the better supported FCS programs to have a better level than the current Big Sky Conference. Even if that is the case, whoever chooses to take on the Big Sky Conference broadcasts will be looking at what programs have fan support, and which don't.
IF, I were responsible for the TV schedule, I would have made the same decision, and would have continued to do so, until other programs get better fan support. If, more games were on TV for other programs, what would be the motivation to show up for the games? Montana and Montana State, will still have great fan support, no matter the TV broadcast rights.
Other fan bases need to be bitching at their own fan bases, and communities, for shitty support, then when that improves, then go to Root Sports, and bitch about it. :thumb:
