Montana kids

Whoever the coach is (Hauck), he needs to find and recruit more Montana kids. I know we have recruited some of the best known Montana kids, but what about the unknown/undiscovered kids? Check this kid out from Hamilton. He broke all sorts of receiving records, including Marc Mariani's.

Post any highlights of athletes you think would make a good Montana recruit.
Jaxon Lee from the granite county Titans. Good size and speed, catches everything, only a soph. They went undefeated and he was the difference in the chipper. 1st team all state at 3 spots.

80 percent of the reason i support Griz football is Montana kids. I enjoy seeing Colt Andersons, Chase Reynolds, and Marc Marianis of the state make it. I usually don't cheer for the out of state kids nearly as hard, they are good kids and are apart of Griz nation but they'll never be Montana Boys.

WOW. I dare you to go tell that to Dane Oliver's face. Or better yet, ask his players at Sentinel if they think he is MONTANA. That last sentence may have been the single dumbest thing I've ever seen posted on Egriz.

+1, George.

Vim where will Janacarro end up? That kid had a pretty huge season but it doesn't seem like he's getting cat or griz offers from my knowledge. If he goes Naia I'm guessing that's a good steal. Based on his season though he's got to be one of the better Montana kids

Maybe the "fear of the unknown" is holding back the offers as Levi mostly just played QB while mixing in at safety and outside linebacker. Here is my opinion after his senior season. He is a 6'1", 220 lb. athlete who tore up AA his final two seasons against some very stout defenses. As a running back, he has excellent ball security and vision while also showing a knack for picking up the "dirty yards". He is basically a fullback playing QB. As a defensive player, specifically at linebacker, he is a solid tackler and still blew up running plays in spot duty this fall. For example, go to this highlight (https://www.hudl.com/video/3/5606570/5a1602060c53d827384fdbac) and start at the :29 mark. He reads a sweep to the left and blows up the play for a 7-yard loss. So I don't know...maybe his speed and length are giving coaches reservations? Maybe he wants to play QB? In my opnion, he is a Top 10 player out of Montana.

Thanks for your response and that is a great summary. I agree I think he is top 10

To add, the biggest compliment to Levi's talent is the fact every defense in AA knew that Big Sky was going to run the ball...and Janacaro still put up top tier league numbers in rushing yards and touchdowns.

Bobby Hauck - Athletic Director in waiting -Will recruit from 6 & 8 man teams in Montana and will commence to ram the ball down the throats of opponents. The hidden Montana boys will get a shot at D-1 ball again!

A la Chris Murray style....damnit

Bobby Hauck will:

1. Recruit nothing but Montana kids who are of good stock and from strong families;
2. Make a deep playoff run in his first season;
3. Win the chipper in his second season;
4. Show up at the post-championship presser and tell the press to pound sand;
5. Accept the head coaching job at Alabama;
6. Win a natty at 'Bama; and
7. Return to Montana to coach the Griz for a third time.

Book it! :thumb:

Back in the GRIZ heydays, before Pflu, Montanans accounted for over 50 percent of the roster. Now it's around 15 percent. Other parallel changes: win/loss record decline, playoff appearences way down, home game attendance down(has anyone noticed the box scores this year did not include the usual attendance figures). TV shows the growing aluminum spectre.

Once they don the maroon and silver, they are all Montana kids to me (and I am a 4th generation Montanan). Some of us were simply lucky enough to be born here; the rest, like my spouse, have to find another way to get here.

I think w/ Hauck, MT kids are the main dish; out-of-state recruits, drop-downs, and transfers are the seasoning.

I only used the two deep list provided by my local newspaper prior to the cat game for my figures. My mistake. Anyway you look at it, a precipitous decline. Not that they are all related, but how do you explain the w/l, playoff, and attendance stats? Not that Montana players would have made a difference. GRIZ football has gone down the drain since Hauck left.

Since there are only two FCS schools in this state. I'm just curious what players MSU has currently from the state, that REALISTICALLY you guys that started this thread, think should be Griz instead of Cats. And please leave out Mac Bignell and Troy Andersen. If you know anything about them, and the state of Montana, then you should know even if Bobby or Don Read had been coaching when they were seniors in high school, NEITHER was EVER going to be a Griz. So who else then?

Cats are gonna be cats, GRIZ are gonna be Griz, unless their career goals, via education, are only attainable at one place or the other. Don't t be a dick, George
. Bottom line is GRIZ football has suffered since Bobby left.

Never said it hasn't suffered. In fact, I fully agree it has suffered. I'm simply asking what MSU, FCS caliber players should the Griz have gotten in the last four years? I was just curious to hear poster's thoughts on which current Cats from Montana would have made a big different over the last four seasons, aside from Bignell and Andersen.

I heard it sounds like Bozo for Levi .... BUT that was pre-"Hauck"

Sorry, George, I didn't realize you had a reading comprehension defiicit, or that I didn't fully explain what I was trying to state. The state of Griz football has gone to hell since Bobby left. Agreed?

One each from the past three recruiting classes with no ties to MSU that went to MSU:

2015: Josh Hill
2016: Chase Benson
2017: Tadan Gilman
