Montana @ Colorado State [Game Thread]

Anticipation,,,expectations,,,build-up,,,depth conversations,,,press conference confidence,,hopes.....POP....another Griz Hoops Crab,,,christ almighty ,,,now embarassing,,this is defense? this is Griz b-ball? this is Tinkle tactics? this is DEFENSE?...this stinks,,,WoW,,lower expectations,,lower confidence,,,,drowning hopes,,,oh well,,,Western is next

For the past 3 seasons I have been the guy tellin my friends about Griz bball, tryin to get them as excited as I was. Reading on here about the new recruits, reading people's personal experiences from watching practices, or seeing the recruit playin high school ball. Drinking the kool-aid. It all sounds so good on paper. I'm just stunned, zoned out. And for a basketball game!? I was just more confident then ever that this team would come out this season and make the state proud. Be the team that sets this program up for greater successes down the road.

HEY! Good thing the season isn't one game long huh?
Let's get Western.

i think it has become obvious that Tinkle is a great recruiter, but he is unable to get his teams to either do what he wants, or they do what he wants but he just doesn't know what he's doing. He is obviously not a great motivator and must not be very good with the strategic part of the game.

Ok, Ok, maybe i'm still in shock..... but i'm not giving up on this team after a poor season opener on the road...... inexcuseable? YES...... unfixable? NO........ we all will be smarting after this loss.....but we have some really high profile games coming up so it time to put this behind us....... ugh.... that being said....what a horrible performance..... Wayne better put this one on him for not getting the kids prepared mentally to play...... I wasnt there tonight....just listening on the radio.....but it sounds like one of the worst Defensive efforts a Montana team has had in a long long time..... 30pt loss to start the year.... WOW.... sorry if this post is rambling....I just have no idea what to say....I'm shocked....

And I on the other hand am not shocked. Tinkle is a heck of a nice guy, no doubt about it, but he has done nothing as the head coach of this team and I really don't see that changing. I hope I am wrong.

Oh, I agree it would be silly to throw in the towel at this point. But I agree with you: it's not so much the blowout loss that bothers me as much as the apparent lack of effort.

Given the beating that Hauck and his staff takes on eGriz day after day, I'm actually quite surprised at the love that Tinkle gets given his head coaching record.

Hauck gets grief only from morons and haters. And there's just more of those on the football side. Real fans understand that we're extremely lucky to have both of them.

"Shame on them."

'bout sums it up...
there's no excuse is right.

I hope he can get on them more than the calm attitude portrayed in discussing on the radio. I remember Larry getting quite loud after the game when he was agitated.

Sounds like Tinkle is maturing as a coach....He has gone from bashing last year's team to bashing this year's team!

Well I posted on an earlier thread that CSU would be much improved this year and I think it was met with a bit of skepticism.

I don't think your team is as bad as some posters here are making them out to be. They ran some nice offensive sets but CSU's athleticism made pretty much every shot a contested one. McGillis struggled because he was defended by Harvey Perry who is a former Top 75 HS player that began his career with Romar at Washington. CSU was much better offensively than I would have imagined as they ran they sets crisply. Again, it was their quickness and athleticism that got them open looks. CSU got a surprising game from freshman guard Jesse Carr; he hasn't looked that good in the two exhibition games.

Stick with your guys. I think they'll be fine once they get a few games under their belts.
