Montana at Northern Colorado 7:05 PM

Holy crap, this is the first time I've watched the Griz fall apart, but still be able to keep it together and win late in the game -- our "D" is really good, we just don't seem to play very well when we don't focus(turnovers) and go through cold streaks offensively...hopefully we'll be able to work that out. At least we play solid "D" for the most part now.

Stauds was huge today.

It is hard to figure how you win on the road against a quality team like UNC with 20+ turnovers and a 3-1 deficit in FTs (even though that unc announcer seemed to think the Griz were getting every break  )

Evizzerate, I must admit that your string of posts in this thread must have set an egriz record for the all-time ____ posts I've ever seen.

I'm not sure whether to be encouraged or dissapointed by BQ's game.

On the plus side, we won a game where our 7 footer attempted 1 shot and sat out extended periods of time. AJ, Staudacher and Selvig played very well and shot the hell out of the 3 ball.

On the negative, UNC's post players are less than imposing and they completely neutralized BQ.

If this Griz team can get consistant, they can beat anyone in the league.

I agree...when we rarely do play consistent all the way through, we can kick the crap out of teams, but the only thing I think the griz have mastered while under Tinkle (besides playing solid "D" for a whole game) is being consistently inconsistent! :thumb:

Obviously, Staudacher, Selvig and AJ had terrific games. But, in the last 3.5 minutes Cherry scored 4 of our 7 points, had an important steal and had no turnovers. Only 11 minutes for him tonight. Staudacher's whole game, and especially the very important two three-pointers when NC started to open their lead, was excellent. Note that he was the inbounder on several inbound plays at the end of the game. UM outshot NC, including 3's and freethrows, in terms of percentages, but the 18 turnovers by UM were (almost) killers. 5 each by Selvig and AJ.

Looking at the shooting percentages, as well as a slight rebounding advantage, you would think UM would have won big. However, the 18 turnovers, including 7 steals by NC, as well as 9 more made free throws for NC, evened things out.

Great, great road win by the Griz, including coming back after NC took the lead in the second half. I don't think there is much more that could be asked or hoped for tonight, other than fewer turnovers. Hopefully, they can take down NAU, who is now even with UM in the standings. I hope Griz Nation is proud of the boys (and at least satisfied with the coaches).

Yeah baby! Showed some heart, desire and guts tonite,,,keep it going,,great for team confidence! 70 inches of snow in Flagstaff, but can get another...as to homer man, during game when he and the crowd were screaming, crying and bitching (even tho they get way more FT than Griz?!?) Mick says "there must not be many opticians in Greeley" killed me! BSucktv is great but always listen to Mick

What was the final score? I can't wait for the results at about 10:30 on KPAX news.

64-62 GRIZ victory!!

This proves the point I've been making all along, as unsophisticated a bb watcher as I am: You've got to score at least, at the very least, 60 points to win a game, esp. in this league. The Griz did it tonight with a 64 point effort. I'm not discounting a good defense, but in this league, I think, it's a task for the best defenses to hold another team to less than 60 points. You could say the Cats did it in the last game; I say it was poor shooting that lost us that game. It was good shooting that won this one. Good shooting covers a multitude of sins. ;)

The Griz played more zone D tonight and it made a difference! In the cat game, the zone was far more effective than when the Griz played man. That lesson seems to have been learned and applied by the coaches tonight! :thumb:

My favorite was when Mick prematurely called Selvig's front end of a one-and-one shot short, and then immediateley said it when in, and then I think he said it swished in (or nothing but net). Then, a dead pan voice, sounding like Sundberg. said: "Nice call, Mick." Nothing else was said--as they were on to the next free throw.

MGR must have been at the game. Can't wait for his report.
