Montana AA High School football playoffs

Well one thing I have grown to know for sure. Refs in Butte guarantee a Bulldog win. And if for some reseason Bozeman pulls it out Butte will beat their ass in the parking lot. Thats the hospitality I learned to love.

First...playoff refs will not be from Butte

Second....only people who really deserve it get their ass beat in the parking lot! :thumb:

From Buttesports.com:

The seating capacity at Naranche Stadium will be about 7,000 for Friday night’s Class AA State championship game.

School officials said they have brought in bleachers from around town that add an additional 2,800 seats around the stadium.

As of Wednesday morning, more than 5,000 tickets were sold, with 1,000 being sold to people in Bozeman.

Visiting seating will be moved for the championship game. Instead of visiting seating being saved in sections I and J like in previous games, those seats will be in sections U, V and W, which are on the southeast side of the field.

Butte High officials say the tickets will not sell out because there is a lot of room for standing fans. Tickets are on sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Civic Center. They’ll be on sale from 9 a.m. until noon tomorrow. Ticket booths and stadium gates open at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Will the game be streaming online? I'd sure like to see it. Naranche Stadium should be rocking. Root Sports televises the 3A and 4A championship games in Washington and I've gone to see them live a few times over the years, but the indoor atmosphere at the Tacoma Dome just doesn't do it for me. I don't like football with a roof over your head.

You will be able to listen to it on KBOW http://www.kbow550.net/kbow" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It will play on cable (unsure of the channel at this point) Friday November 23.

No video streaming.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll tune in and listen.

Butte fumbles snap, CMR recovers and scores a few plays later. 21-7 cmr

I gotta give a lot of credit to CMR though for a great battle. They are the only team that has come into Butte with confidence and swagger. They ran the ball hard (broke tackles) on offense, and they (especially the safeties) knocked the crap out of you on defense. That was a very physical, very good football team! They were classy in defeat as well. I respect that team showed up!

I thought capital entered their game with some swagger, jumped out to a 20-0 lead, credit goes to Butte for finding a way to pull out some tough games. I didn't think Butte had a solid enough defense to advance this far, turns out I was wrong. Should be interesting Friday night, I expect a tight one for sure. I am definitely regardless the outcome of the game to see if Butte can keep up their good play year after year. I know the QB is a junior, but they will lose some very good linemen. I am very impressed with the Butorvich who has started for 3 or maybe 4 years on the line. In the AA, it seems a few programs are solid every year with Capital, CMR, Billings West, seem to be tough every year. I am interested to see if Butte can join this group. Hats off to both Bozeman and Butte, you guys deserve to be in the game.

You are right TheHighwayMan, Capital did come in with swagger...as they should have, they are one of the top traditiobnal teams (as is CMR). It was good to see the Griz ATH recruit (Gunnar Brekke) up close and personal...he's the real deal, gonna be a good Griz. Capital has a Junior DL that is in the mold of Caleb Kidder. Scary I know.

You are also right about Butte losing some good OL after Fri night. RT #75 Nick Butorovich, 6'4" 300, is really good. Certainly Big Sky Conf material. RG/DL #77 Anthony Moritz, 6'1" 280, is pretty good as well. I was going to mention them earlier but I got chastized before for being a homer mentioning Butte players, but since you opened the door on the lineman...

On the Bozeman sports newscast last night, when asked about what they need to focus on after having played Butte on Sept 28, Bozeman head coach Troy Purcell said, "We gotta tackle better on (Zack) Bunney (#25). Geez. We gotta get bodies on (Dallas) Cook (#16). My gosh, he's one big kid. Then Bunney is a fast guy. You know so we gotta be able to tackle well, especially out in space, and rally to the ball and go."

So coach Purcell mentioned Bunney first, and last. Guess me saying earlier in the year that I would like to see Bunney play for the Griz might not be such a stretch after all (a playmaker in the State Championship).

I have another player that the Hawks should be conscious of...but I don't need to draw anymore attention to him... :D

It's going to be a great game, the Bozeman Hawks are very tough on both sides of the ball. Especially now that they've got back their starting QB (Weyer) and WR (Miller). Go Dogs!!!

Butte will beat CMR (AGAIN)

Bozeman will beat Glacier

State Championship will be in Butte, where it belongs, with Butte beating Bozeman.

So far:

CORRECT

CORRECT

CORRECT, with only the outcome of the state championship still to play out.

The best of the best are going to duke it out, it's anybody's game, could go either way of course.

Everyone says how tough it is to beat a team twice in one season. Well Butte (former #1, current #2) has done it every time they've had to fact a team twice this season...they've beat Skyview and CMR twice. Can they beat Bozeman for the 2nd time? We'll see...

Bozeman (former #1 team in state, ranked there until they lost their starting QB to injury, who is only a JR and is recieving college interest) is tough. Butte will have their hands full with the Hawks EXPLOSIVE offense. And the Butte offense will be facing a TOUGH Bozmean defense. But Butte is (favored) very talented and tough to beat in front thier rowdy faithful.

A quick glance below I count Butte with 26 State Championship victories and 14 runn-up finishes, and 1 tie.

Bozeman High has 3 state championship victories, 3 runner-up finishes.

It's going to be WILD at Naranche Stadium, the house the legends built :!:

Check out that 1982 Class A score. Guess who played in that game????? LOL It was colder than hell in Sidney that day!!!

Putter and I were part of the 1986 and 1987 Class AA state championship games, and we lost to GF in the 1988 semi-finals, 22-15.

Hey Putter, is it just me and my high school concussions thinking we lost to Helena HIGH in 1987, or was it CAPITAL like it says above? :help:

The cmr fan who says the call on the goal line was a joke and that he did score is wrong. I was there with a good seat on the upper level near the goal line and it did not look like he scored from what I could see. It was hard to say for sure because the goal line stripe was not clear due to the snow. But the refs on both sidelines saw that he was stopped short and they had the best angle of anyone in the stadium. I do know that the cmr fan section was on the opposite end of the field and they had no way of knowing if he got in. Cmr is very good and their physical run oriented offense had an advantage playing on the snow covered and frozen field with the temperature about 10 degrees. Not good conditions for a team like butte that relies heavily on the pass. The stats including total yards and first downs were about even. The keys to butte's win were turnovers - 3 for cmr and 1 for butte - and butte had 2 long 4th quarter TD drives of 92 and 76 yards and made the 2 point conversion each time erasing a 16 point defIicit to send the game to OT. Dallas Cook is outstanding and was the best player on the field and has to be the best player in the state this year. Tough loss for cmr. They had a chance to put the game away in the 2nd half. But it was a great game. For Butte, they have another real tough opponent this week but I doubt that Bozeman will be better than cmr.

Cool post. Thanks. I was also impressed with CMR, most notably Horner and 44 (Thompson?) They basically ran it right down Buttes throat for 3 quarters. Turnovers were the difference. Had CMR not turned the ball over twice in the redzone in the second half they would have won.

Doesn't matter now, but heard that film showed ball over the line on the 2pt. would be interesting to confirm that. Ref's called it....history.

Hope Butte can pull it off.

Rabidawg, have you heard of a high school film aid called HUDL??? I believe the HUDL tape would dispute what you have posted. In fact I have heard it really wasn't as close as most thought, at least a half a yard short.

Bozeman TV news station had camera down there in that endzone, side view. I have the video of the news broadcast on my DVR. The ball carrier was hit and stood-up just inside the 1-yard line. NO TD.

Every single player on the field was even in doubt on both sides-the video shows EVEN THE CMR PLAYERS stood there emotionless and didn't know, they didn't raise an arm or finger or anytihng to signify a good 2-pt conversion and victory. The CMR coaches or bench didn't even say a word, they knew he was stopped.

Saw a story on the news last night about the Butte running back (Bunney?) that has come back from leukemia to play this year and in this game. Hope he runs for 250 yds tomorrow in a win. Anyone like that has my admiration and support. Go Dogs!

He also is a starting CB. So let's hope for a pick-six as well. :thumb:

Well one thing I have grown to know for sure. Refs in Butte guarantee a Bulldog win. And if for some reseason Bozeman pulls it out Butte will beat their ass in the parking lot. Thats the hospitality I learned to love.

"Refs in Butte" were unbiased "Refs from Bozeman". IF ANYTHING, one Bozeman ref in particular was favoring CMR :!: I'll leave it at that.

First...playoff refs will not be from Butte

Second....only people who really deserve it get their ass beat in the parking lot! :thumb:

IG....It was Capital in 1987. Remember Todd Paffhausen was the QB and Capital could not stop him. Got up 12-0 in the first quarter and the Mac decided to run the ball the rest of the game and lost 14--12 ...in Butte. Tough night. Hard too because Butte lost Russ Allen at RB when Street took out his already repaired knee at practice. Oh, and you can take pride in the concussion...you got it from former Griz Lance Allen. Still is one of the biggest hits I have seen some one take.....

Cool post. Thanks. I was also impressed with CMR, most notably Horner and 44 (Thompson?) They basically ran it right down Buttes throat for 3 quarters. Turnovers were the difference. Had CMR not turned the ball over twice in the redzone in the second half they would have won.

OK, Dammit, OK! I give up! But still, ya just can't win in Butte....High School or Frontier....
